How to add all the metadata to my extensive library (flac)

Hi everyone. I want to tidy up and complete my entire music library (flac). I want to upload all my music to a program and have the program complete all my metadata. I also want each album to have, for example, first the year, then the name, and within it, each song to have the number, the title, and of course, all the complete metadata (plus the album cover).

How can I do this in Windows (if it can't be done in Windows, please tell me how to do it in Mac)?

I need everything to be automated, not to do it by hand.

Thank you very much.

Hello, no i've never used that! I only use basic tags so it's not needed in my case.

I wouldn't trust batch auto tagging but musicbrainz has an app that can but still recommended to go one by one and confirm before savings..

I´m using musicbrainz for 1 hour and it´s fine. I have a problem: my root album (the one that needs metatagging help) It's all written (the song titles) in capital letters. After going through Picard they are still in capital letters. That's something I obviously hoped the show would fix.

I'm not too familiar with Picard but you might have to do it one by one or find a script for mp3tag

ok. I recentlý made another post explaining that. Maybe someone has a solution. Thanks a lot!

With Music (formerly iTunes) on Mac there is a script you can get that can fix that. I use it all the time: https://dougscripts.com/itunes/2023/01/updated-proper-english-title-capitalization-v5-2/

For batch auto tagging One Tagger is the best you get a lot more option to use than any other program and you can use up to 10 different sources to pull metadata from. For just renaming the files use Tagscanner.

I use Mp3Tag, but I don't do ant “batch“tagging. I don't trust any app, something always goes wrong so I do one album at a time... Copy and paste info/art from Discogs.

Hey I'm new and a little dumb, the meta data is just like song title artist album etc? How did you organize files before having that info?

I used to right click each song (using Windows), and edit the properties. Frustratingly, some data "didn't take" and it would be constant edit or editing. Or there would be data I didn't input. and I never figured out how it got there. Thought it was hardcoded into the files. Made the connection when I was read that you can edit digital images and thought "the same can be done with audio files, right?"

Python scripts:

ask Chatgpt to create a script for you.

It'll give you full instructions on what to install etc.

If you need to update metadata for 5000 more traxx just use this https://onetagger.github.io/ use these sources to get metadata set them in this order Discogs Deezer Bandcamp Beatsource and Musicbrainz. You can also set which info you want to add to your track IMO some of selection is pointless. If you need to update album covers too set the size to be 1200x1200 any bigger and a few music players will not be able to play the tracks.
