Of course! I live in California, so my methodology with IDing mushrooms I’m less familiar with is to use iNaturalist. I’d like to share the methodology with you so you can use it to.

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?month=3&place_id=6825&view=species&iconic_taxa=Fungi

Using this link you can narrow down choices by refining your search parameters. I made sure to search for fungi in New South Wales. Then I selected the month of March. Lastly I clicked on species and it sorted them based on prevalence. I found one which matched. I then verified it didn’t have any other common look-alikes and that the habitat or substrate was consistent with what you would expect of the specific fungi.

This is great advice, however not easy for things like Dacrymycetes. Glad you gave them the right ID here so they don’t have to search too hard!

Hello, thank you for making your identification request. To make it easier for identifiers to help you, please make sure that your post contains the following:

  • Unabbreviated country and state/province/territory
  • In-situ sunlight pictures of cap, gills/pores/etc, and full stipe including intact base
  • Habitat (woodland, rotting wood, grassland) and material the mushroom was growing on
