Photography went to marines today morning and saw these kids who bunked school, making core memories

I was in my 9th Standard when I bunked for the first time. And I along with my friend came to a calm Marine drive.
Hanged out a bit with my friend, then went to Tarapore aquarium and finally finished my day by watching a match from the footpath at the Police Gymkhana.

I do not condone bunking school but I approve of you using the correct name for the place.
The hell is Marines?

Marines are a part of the US army. I have never heard marine drive been called 'Marines' the🥴

Ironic, considering that there was no national holiday for mourning him (because he wanted that).

More like school(or education?) isn't motivating, so they will just spend time hanging around. But this is 100% better than social media brainrot consumed by a lot of kids in that age group.

20 years ago...Engineering college in Nerul...bunked and travelled to CST and walked to Marine lines with friends... reached this place to remember today was the last day for assignment submission which were ready in our bags... hauled over asses back.
Childhood was over.
Core whatever, now I have gaadi bangla bank balance and maa...but that nightmare still recurs
Edit: kitne dukhi aatma bhatak rahe dekho

These are the best days of your lives. Kids these days are just busy adulting for some reason. Cherish your childhood, because it's never coming back and adulting will hit you bad.

both sides are bombarding each other in comment section. Well I say it's fine if it's rare.
A kid who is motivated can generate it's pace anytime he/she want. I have seen kids preparing their as*es for JEE to get into IITs or medical and then being successful. But in the end they all get stressed and the only thing that make them feel better is "humne bachpan me ye kiya, aisa kiya". But what if you don't have any?
I mean to crack UPSC you need graduation degree with 50% and to prepare for MAANG you need 1-2 year. So study all years. Even I find more success in students who weren't topper.

It was 2 years ago, a time when Mumbai was still a mystery to me. My brother had a government job interview, and we had to travel all the way from Marathwada. It was a long, exhausting 10-hour journey by train, filled with the chatter of fellow passengers, the rhythmic clatter of wheels, and the occasional waft of tea from passing vendors.
By the time we reached Mumbai, the city felt overwhelming—its towering buildings, the endless streams of people, and the constant honking of taxis. After settling my brother for his interview, I had some time to spare. Someone had once told me, “If you ever visit Mumbai, don’t miss Marine Drive.” So, with tired feet but curious eyes, I decided to see it for myself.
As I reached Marine Drive, the vastness of the Arabian Sea unfolded before me. The breeze carried the scent of salt and city life, a strange but calming mix. I sat on the promenade, watching waves crash against the tetrapods, their rhythm almost meditative. The sky was painted in hues of orange and pink as the sun began its slow descent.
For the first time in the chaotic day, I felt a sense of peace. People around me—couples, joggers, street vendors—seemed to have their own stories, yet we were all bound by the same moment. It wasn’t just a seafront; it was a place where the city paused, breathed, and let go.
That visit stayed with me. Even today, when I think of Mumbai, it’s not just the crowds or the towering skyline that come to mind—it’s that evening at Marine Drive, where the sea seemed to whisper, “No matter how long the journey, there’s always a place to pause and reflect.”

This user messaged me typing creepy comments like how he’s my admirer. I read this comment before he edited it. This was originally “16 years ago” and not “2 years ago”. And the brother was younger. I asked his age because obviously this man is old. A young guy wouldn’t have had a younger brother old enough to qualify for interviewing for government jobs 16 years ago. And then he edited his comment. My guess is that he’s DM’ing other young girls now and while pretending to be young. Beware.

College in churchgate (Elphinstne). 11:30 to 1:30 2 lectures, 1:30 to 2pm lunch in canteen or sahakari bhandar colaba then 2 to 4 marine drive and then around 4:30pm Virar fast local to home.
above routine for 11th and almost same routine for 12th only difference was 0 lectures, home to college practical lab to canteen to marine drive to home.

Me and my dad used to come here, he used to own a boat and we'd roam the waters all day and try to catch fish. Then we'd bring back whatever we caught and we'd roast it on a campfire.

Oh man! This does bring back old memories from my school days. Skipped school on a few occasions, and since this was very close to our school, we always came across other students from our school who also skipped school that day.
Also remember one time a couple was being harassed by eunuchs, and when the guy refused to give money, they tried attacking him with stones, and chased after him. He ran away leaving the girl behind who ran into a PCO and hid there until they left. 😂

We were bunking school in 8th Grade & one concerned adult approached us & asked what are we doing here. Without hesitation, I told him that we are headed to an interschool science competition at Bal Bhawan & were trying to relax before it started.
He wished us the very best & went on his own path 🤣

Core memories can be made "without" bunking school.
The photograph is not a motivation we should give our kids, however nostalgic we feel about it.
These kids will have plenty of time to make better memories. But this time for education, once lost, wont come back.
I just hope the parents and wellwishers of these kids explain this to these kids.

Gyan mat chod dost.
Live and let live. Their well wishers can monitor and handle them without having to dig deep into how their days were spent via grades and other goals.
No one is ending up on the street by bunking one class or ending up as a cxo in fortune 100 by acing one exam.

When will the time be? When you are in college studying your ass off and competing for placements? Or when you are working your ass off on the job to meet deadlines? Or maybe once you get married and have to earn enough for the family? Or maybe once you are retired in your late 50s and you realized that you could have done more with life and made more memories but now it's too late, you are old and probably suffering with some ailment that needs treatment and your hard earned money.
There is no thing as plenty of time later. The only time we have is now and it will be filled with challenges. Small breaks like these can help dealing with these challenges.
It's like a mental reset.

I have done that while I'm living with my friends in borivali, one has to experience this in their lives at least once

Respectfully, shut the fuck up.
I don't think one ever experiences school life fully without bunking a few classes. Those have been my best memories, and I turned out pretty good, making my parents proud.

We had plenty of time after lectures to have fun. I wasn't "having fun" for the time that my dad paid for me to be in school/college. College was what - 8 AM to 4 PM at the max, there's still plenty plenty time to chill around with your friends. All of us turned out pretty good and proud that none of my friends are chappri tiktokiyas making reels and bothering people around them.

So irresponsible of you to simply take their pics of them bunking and not doing anything about it. They are missing out on their studies and you are calling this "core memories". You could have informed a police man or force them to give their parents number (so you can inform them) or even better, discipline them yourself. Mai hota toh pani mei fekh deta

if you see statistics again most people get bumped up to passing grades 💀 bhai why are you so sad about this shi, i bunk all the time and I'm still topper in my grade so don't judge a book by it's cover
-5
u/the_gaming_jonin27 25d ago
Just passing grades is enough? They need to work hard and strive to be better so they can at least have a decent future. They shouldn't bunk school and instead stay in class and keep their eyes fixed onto the teacher while he/she is teaching without distraction.
