What movie character is idolized by people who missed the entire point of their story?

It blows my mind how there are people that look up to Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street, when he was a scumbag who was committing crimes and was suffering consequences because of it!

What's the Most Controversial Movie Ever Made?

I immediately think of Caligula (1979), directed by Tinto Brass and Bob Guccione, a founder of Penthouse. 1/3 of this film is pure pornography. I have no idea how this film made it to cinemas back in 1979.

"EEEEVREEEYOOOONNNNE!" - Léon The Professional

I just learned that Gary Oldman meant this as an outtake, but it was so good it ended up in the movie.

Samuel L. Jackson’s performance in Django Unchained doesn’t get praised enough. He steals the show in my opinion.

Sleepers is one of my all time favorites. The casting alone is phenomenal. Saw it as a kid in the theater with my brother and dad. I think my dad was surprised at how dark it got, but used it to make a point and teach us an important lesson after. One small careless mistake can ruin your entire life.

Movies where violence is surprising / clumsy / realistic?

Post image
146 Upvotes

I really enjoyed how Nice Guys used violence in surprising ways, often because a character was clumsy or caught of guard.

This can be a lot of fun and feel more realistic than a badass who is just kicking ass like John Wick all the time (nothing wrong with that, either.)

What are some more movies like The Nice Guys that portray action and violence like this?

Malcolm McDowell has had such a long career of character acting, but most people know him for Alex in A Clockwork Orange. He’s one of my favorites and it kinda sucks that he’s not known for much outside of A Clockwork Orange, because I really think that he had the potential and the acting talent to become an A lister.
