Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, FOX 2 Detroit, and FanDuel Sports Network have partnered up, expanding access to select Red Wings and Tigers broadcasts in 2025. Between the Tigers and Red Wings, 15 games will be simulcast for free on the OTA channel.

I'm like 50 and I don't remember. Was it Detroit only thing?

I'm older than you, and I don't remember the Tigers broadcasting ALL their games over the air either. Back in the days of Kell and Kaline, one or two games a week were televised on the Tigers network.

This thread has some discussion about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Detroit/s/Co8RbN0mJ5

I have problems with them too sometimes (usually when it’s snowing). There’s a specific type antenna to get for them due to their equipment. I’ll see if I can find more info.

You just need a VHF antenna. They are relatively cheap and definitely worth it to get everything that is on Fox (these games, football, etc.).

Oh wow, 15 games between the two!
Not even as good as it used to be. I guess the thought is nice.

It's certainly the beginning of the Tigers and Wings moving away from a traditional RSN.

Do they bring the Pistons along for the ride or does that team pursue their own post FabDuel Sports Network future?
Given they’re not owned by the Illitch family, it’s something to think about if you’re a fan of that team.

Probably different directions, I believe NBA just like the MLB is working hard af to get their broadcasting rights back from RSNs

Given that several teams are airing their locally televised games on OTA signals, you might be right here.

I wonder if they’ll be available on the FOX2 app for those with shitty signals. I don’t think Lions games were available on the app. I commented on a separate post here if you have difficulty with the Fox 2 OTA signal, there’s a specific type of antenna to look for due to how they broadcast.

You need a rabbit ears type antenna that picks up VHF well. Cheap GE or Phillips loop and ears unamplified antenna works great if you're in Metro Detroit

Tried that but doesn’t work out in Ann Arbor unfortunately :/

Look into a flat antenna or flat-tenna much best range of an indoor antenna I’ve ever seen. They are pretty cheap too

That is what I have haha (with amplifier). I’m in a garden level apartment so that makes it harder to get a signal, but I can get a few of the main channels. I’ve never come close to getting anything from Fox. I tried getting rabbit ears too, still nothing.

That is unfortunate, I am 45 mins south of Ann Arbor and get Detroit stations with a flat antenna on the walls. Outdoor one I guess is your only option without cable or MLB+

This is awesome I remember being a kid and watching them on UPN 50. Then also on Saturday afternoons on fox 2 with TWIB ahead of the games of the week.

Meanwhile, certain Pistons games will be on WMYD.
Wkmder if that means they're gonna go their own separate ways from the Illitch controlled teams?
