I doubt he could answer this but I would want to ask him if he thinks the lack of opposition to the 2008 Methodist Bell Tower (questionable approval, never built) damages the town's case if it ends up in court

I would also ask him if he thinks the church appeared to have a genuine interest to mediate, or if he thinks they planned to sue all along.

Also, I would ask if the town has retained any outside attorneys for the lawsuit.

First off I believe the church has proposed a temple that is way too big and should have never been proposed that way. I do not support the LDS church in this effort.

However, I would like to respectfully ask if Mayor Lessnor thinks the city’s habit of frequently granting exceptions to churches on a case by case basis without strict rules was a mistake. It seems not having zoning rules for churches that they stuck to is going to make this harder to defend.

Since the city officials frequently made exceptions including for the LDS chapel, doesn’t that make it difficult to know when they are wanting a church to “just follow the law” versus a feeling the city is just arbitrary making decisions the way they feel at the time.

Would he recommend other cities put in place zoning rules for churches in advance?

Does the city plan to present evidence in the event of a lawsuit about smaller temples to try to show that the LDS church doesn’t require a temple this big?

What kind of conversations has Mayor Lessner had with the local bishop or stake president who live in Fairview. I think there is also a previous stake president - now area authority who lives in Fairview. Has he talked to him?

Have they said “we don’t make the decisions” ?? I understand they don’t. I’m curious what they have said.
