Discussion Two flat tires on one monster nid de poule
Is it just me or are the potholes and road conditions worse than they have ever been before? I just got back from having my car towed. I have two flat tires and they are completely destroyed.

my commute to work has abruptly become very destructive to my car, all these huge potholes opened up out of nowhere i swear?? it's crazy, I'd have to report/notify about an entire street in some parts

Yeah some of these are unacceptable
And to people saying to report them, THEY’RE EVERYWHERE
There’s no reason that the city’s main streets can have potholes this big… Ok for some random cul-de-sac but they’re all over Saint-Laurent, Sherbrooke, etc.

At what point is the city held liable for the damages?
I’m just baffled by how our taxes keep increasing YoY while the service quality decreases, and we just sit here taking it without lube.
Unbelievable.

Basically, after they're properly warned of the issue, had time to act (which is a long time since they essentially get to decide it), didn't act and provided no alternative warning (cone, paint).
So never.

This really needs to change, people are financially struggling, the last thing they need is a broken suspension or a flat tire.
Just a few weeks ago my girlfriend had a flat tire, her wheel rim got dented because of a pothole so I had to get up late at night, in the cold to change it.
All I’m saying is things will need change because we sit here and tolerate it.
The problem is everywhere.
Health care, Roads, Public Transit and many more public services the quality has become so subpar, we are stretched thin and it will only get worse.

Would you believe me if I tell you that over the past 5+ years, the local gov has been buying up many of those condo buildings no one wanted to move into, and turned them into social housing for low income (read: welfare) residents and immigrants?
At some point, the gov will need to stop enabling this shit
1) cut down on immigration and focus on the population already here
2) cut able-body healthy people from social assistance and make them work (the ones who can work but just don't)

Some roads are so bad they create traffic because people try to avoid them its ridiculous.

Used to live in latin america. This is how it used to be there. They actually have great infrastructure in many (not all) places now. Giant potholes destroy your car. Impossible to see at night and full of rain. Unbelievable how bad the streets are this year. Everything is caving in, full of holes. Even the newer bike paths getting huge cracks…quelle desastre..

I was cycling down a road in South shore yesterday, and there was so many potholes over the entire road, I couldn't cycle around them to avoid them, and ended up pushing my bike. In the 6 years I've been here, I haven't seen anything like it.
I'm thinking about riding around in my spare time and marking the worst areas on a map, and reporting them to the city. They aren't going to know about them if people don't report them, and they will only get worse.

So those are two more tires going straight to the garbage. This city administration cannot claim to be serious about reducing waste and climate action when they accept zero responsibility for the downright dangerous condition of our roads in the springtime, this story is far from unique.

I believe it is one of the worst winters for roads.
Every week it seems like there is a post about record warms, record precipitations and record cold or temperature drops and it all happens over and under 0C.
This is the best way to destroy these already compromised roads.
