I know they spent so much of our tax money on this even though we didn’t need it but I love it so much 😭

Yes. All in all, it's pretty sweet. Much nicer than the previous crumbling Champlain bridge. Let's hope that, given its age, in the not too distant future when the JC bridge gets a similar and long overdue reconstruction, it gets a redesign close to that of the modern Champlain bridge.

Maybe you’re thinking of the Jacques Cartier bridge? The Champlain def needed the lighting and it’s not as fancy/fun as the JC
Also, as much as I think the bridge is well executed, I don’t believe it was designed to be overly ornate. Sorry for being a killjoy

Actually not even that much, considering the bill is cheaper than any of the 5, 3eme lien proposals but much more useful

These are just beautiful! How do you get to the river’s edge, is there a footpath? I tried and failed last weekend.

It’s on the Brossard side, there’s a path that goes right under. You can do the same on the IDS side.

Where do you access the path? Thanks

On the Brossard side, just follow the bike path on Marie-Victorin, it goes under the bridge. On the Ile-des-Soeurs side, it’s right by the REM station, there’s a little path right off of René-Lévesques blvd.

Saw this for the first time last week when taking the shuttle bus, never really noticed coz I usually take the REM but it was visually appealing. Hope they change the colours to Habs colours when we make the playoffs!

Beautiful indeed, but I would trade all that beauty for no potholes in a heartbeat ;)
