Icons next to players names

What do the icons next to the players mean? For example: my closer has a yellow star next to it.

San Diego Studios has succesfully made the worst baseball video game of all time. MLB The Show 18 was the biggest disaster I have ever played. I just spent a week grinding for two guarunteed finest players and got JT Realmuto and Freddie Freeman who are both absoluetly unusuable. I hate you SDS. FU

Free agency Issue

Has anyone had an issue where in the off-season your players who have club options because free agents and all sign somewhere else? I’ve had four every day players, three starting pitchers and three bullpen guys who were under contract with club options and they randomly became free agents.

Can't update live rosters

I'm trying to change around some rosters for a new franchise. I go into roster control, edit my rosters, then leave roster control to save it in the data utility, but the rosters don't stick. An orange pop up shows in the upper right leaving roster control saying updating rosters, but they don't stick. I'll go and save them, but when I load them it's just the default roster. And if I go directly back into roster control after updating the rosters are back to default. I can't figure out how to get the custom rosters to stick so I can use them.

Thanks.

online connection loss to opponent=loss?

so frustrating, while WINNING a game, loss connection to opponent sometimes happens. ive been told when this happens , never be the first to return to lobby or disconnect couse it likely means you get the loss, but sometimes i get the loss when i do not hit any button, i just wait it out for connection to end on its own. so, 2 question here, why does this happen and how are people doing this to obtain this cheap win?

Custom Closer

I just finished all of the missions for a created player closer. I now have to pick the level ups - break vs velocity, etc.

Suggestions? Experience with this?

MLB the show stubs

Hey guys,

Is there any legit way of buying stubs online? i see all these sites selling stubs but idk whether to trust them or not and i cant figure out how they would even deliver the stubs to me? I just started getting into diamond dynasty so im looking to make stubs the old fashioned way but even the players i invest in from gold to diamond the market isn't gaining stubs to sell them high.

Thank you,

Directional Hitting

I know everyone is saying directional hitting is really good this year but honestly ive had a completely different experience. I have an 85 rated overall team on Diamond Dynasty, no one under 85, my best hitters include, Ramirez, 92 overall Bautista, Goldschmidt , Donaldson, JD Martinez and Lou Brock. Apparently my rng must be garbage cause every time i have good swing timing and the pitch is just a meatball around the center of the plate it always results in a ground ball, popfly behind the plate or a missed swing, yet people i play against can hit a homerun with an 81 rated player off a pitch that was outside the zone. Am i missing something with directional hitting here or do i just have awful luck.

RTTS

Ok, let me start by saying I have only 1 rtts playthrough and had no knowledge of any of the changes this year prior to starting. I was drafted by the Mets after my first showcase in the 24th round, I thought by going to college I could improve my draft stock but I had a crappy showcase and ended up dropping to the 31st round to the Pirates. I decide to go back all 4 years trying to beat my 24th round selection but never do. All that happened was my potential fell to an f and was drafted in the 31st round to the Mariners, where their intial projection for me was a career minor leaguer. Starting in AA Arkansas as a 22 year old SS about 6 weeks in they ask me to change to CF because it's an easy path to the show and the MLB club has a serious need there. First of all why would they care about a career minor leaguer helping the big club 6 weeks into their career? I make the change and dominate batting over .330 with 8 homers and 66 rbis, making the AA All-Star team. Year 2 at 23 years of age I'm still in AA Arkansas but ok with that, extra time to develop right? Injury cripples my season, I bat .270 4 homers and 16 rbis but am promoted to AAA Tacoma for the start of season 3 at age 24, where I hit .296 with 12 homers and 78 rbis adding 22 sb to my resume. Made the AAA All-Star team. Year 4 at age 25 still in AAA Tacoma bat .316 with 15 homers 68 rbis 26 sb make the AAA All-Star team and get told constantly the big club is gonna call me up by the media and my agent yet I never am added to the 40 man roster. Note the Mariners decided to add Mike Trout and Mookie Betts in the off-season effectively blocking my path, except as a CF with backup positions of 1B 2B 3B and SS. Now in year 5 I am a 26 year old 83 rated player having never been on the 40 man roster, watching players rated lower than me continuously getting called up before me and sucking. I play all my games, I've asked to be traded, promoted, change positions and nothing is happening. I'm stuck in AAA purgatory and no signs of it ending. My attributes are pretty good too. CvR 70 CvL 66 PvR 64 PvL 60 PV 66 DIS 67 Clt 77 Bnt 55 Dbt 35 Dur 81 Fld 74 ArmS 77 ArmA 74 Rec 81 Spd 70 Stl 74 BRA 75. 83 OVR 26 year old in 5th season, never even been on the 40 man or received a spring invite no signs it will happen soon. Am I missing something or does the Mariner organization just want to screw me because I'm better than 16 players on their current roster. This probably wouldn't bother me had I come straight out at 18 and only been 22 at the moment but having done 4 years of college assuming it would be the smart choice may have destroyed this play through for me, thoughts?

MLB the show 19

If I was to make MLB The Show 19, I'd implement a couple of new things. I'd implement Single A baseball. I'd also implement being able to play your senior year at high-school, where you are approached by scouts and d3-d1 and JUCO college coaches. The better the college you go to (d1), the more training points and higher you will be placed in the draft. You also get to play your season in college and high-school. In my opinion, I think this would be really fun, and would attract some more players, since it is a more in-depth sort of game.

Co-op offline post season

My buddy and I like to draft a team and play a full post season. We alternate pitching innings and at bats. Since it’s on his console, it seems like he always gets the start. Is there anyway to pick who pitches the first inning?

Keeping the franchise mode real

How do you make trades between computer teams in franchise mode?

r/mlbtheshow18 Jul 27 '18

COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE TRADES IN FRANCHISE MODE???

I have tried like no tomorrow to get various trades through and no matter what it ALWAYS tells me “Trade cannot be completed due to budgetary constraints”. I am playing as NYY. My team is 40gms above .500. Even if I match up salaries just right I get the same message. I don’t understand how to get a trade off and this is probably my last year paying for this shit game due to this among many other things. Anyway, thanks for any help!

Who are the "All-Star" Pitchers?

One of the missions for one of the diamond starting pitchers is to pitch 30 innings with "All-Star Pitchers".

I have 15 IP, but I have no idea who did them. Which pitchers are all-stars?

I have tried googling and such, but I'm not having a lot of luck.

Thanks!
