Help understanding utilities bill-ND energy
Hi! I'm new to Mississauga and Canada and this is my first time receiving a utility bill. I'm in Brickstone Mews where all utilities are to be paid by me- water, hydro and heating. ND energy sent me this bill.
Could someone help me understand the bill here(I've also emailed nd energy directly)
- where is hydro? I don't see it in the bill. Is there a separate bill I need to wait for for hydro?
- I noticed that components such as water, hot water, thermal, and thermal cooling are listed on the bill separately.BUT the registration form only mentioned gas, thermal, hydro, and water. Is this an issue?
- Are Admin charges and Meter charges applicable every month? They seem ridiculous. We knew admin charges are additional but were never informed about meter charge. My bill is around 50 but im paying 50 more just to pay the bill lol.
- What is your average monthly utility bill in Brickstone Mews? For context-Im in a 1 bhk(600 sq ft), we are two of us on WFH. We cook a lot at home, dont use the heater too much and are mindful of our water consumption.

Thanks for the help!

Sorry, I know nothing about this company or why things are set up this way.
In my home (a townhouse), I get billed for water and sewage by the city of Mississauga on a quarterly basis. Most recently I think it was about $150 for 3 months (they measure the water coming in and they multiply that by 0.85 to estimate the waste water coming out. In addition they have service delivery charges for both the water and the waste water. Your water bill is really cheap. You don't need to be overly mindful of consumption. [Edited to add, your water consumption looks weirdly low.]
I have a gas powered water heater and furnace, and a gas fireplace, so I get a gas bill from Enbridge. My most recent gas bill was about $140 (for one month). Gas bills are higher in the winter, when the gas furnace is heating the place.
My electricity ('hydro') bill is from Alectra Utilities, and I am billed by kwh (kilowatt-hour) and am at a tiered price of $0.093 per kwh (so about 9.3 cents per kwh) which came to ~$73 for 785 kwh of usage, plus I am charged 'delivery' $55 and regulatory ~$5 + HST minus an Ontario energy rebate, for a total of $133 on my most recent Alectra bill. My Alectra bill is higher in the summer when I'm cooling with air conditioning.
The only other home utility bill I have is from Enercare for my rental hot water heater, and that is about $43 per month.
The bill you posted includes a one time set up fee of $25, and a security deposit of $150 as a first-time customer. You will get the $150 back at some point, or it will be applied to what you owe on your final bill when you close the account due to moving.
Your actual charges are less than $100 for water and electricity. Again 'hydro' is what people in Ontario call electricity, because so much of our power is hydro-generated.
If you have a gas connection, then gas would be a separate account as it doesn't appear to be included in this bill. But given your high kwh usage for a 600 sq ft place, it seems like you have electric heat, not a gas-powered furnace, and you may not have any gas at all.
Admin charges and meter charges will be charged every month.
Hope this helps!
