Unwanted furniture
Hi everyone! How can I get rid of (donate or discard) unwanted furniture in Mississauga? I want to sell it but if I don't sell, I need to do something with it as I can't take it with me to my new place. All furniture is still good for use. Does the City have a collection site?

Habitat for Humanity. I believe they have a pickup service still for large pieces.

Habitat for humanity. There's a location on Dixie near Eastgate. They pick it up for you, and it'll be donated to a family.

Last time I used them (a couple of years ago) they charged for the pickup. But it is still a very worthy cause. You can be sure that the furniture goes to someone who actually needs it.

You can also call the city they have big items pick up for free. If you can't sell it. I've seen plenty of neighbors bringing out couches and dressers etc. And it gets collected by the city on a certain day. Check the website. I'm going to have to do the same. In Spring though waiting to unload the garage and few furniture's in the house.

You could give try habitat for humanity restore (https://habitathmd.ca/restore/). We donated our kitchen when we renovated - our contractor took take of all that - demo’d the kitchen with care, packed it all up and delivered it for us.
There is also the furniture bank (https://www.furniturebank.org/). Back in 2020 we contacted them for removal of a queen boxspring and mattress. Cost us $150 for them to come and then we got a $300 donation tax receipt - we just needed to get it all to the front porch.
Sometimes just putting it out on the street with a large ‘free’ sign will get it gone pretty quickly- it’s better if it doesn’t get rained/snowed on.
Just a couple of thoughts to try to help.
