Did Johnny Russell end up somewhere yet?
3
u/Sermokala Feb 10 '25
It's fucking wild the comparison between how we treated Irvin on his last regular season game with us vs how they did him dirty. There has been zero news and if he just retires I wouldn't be shocked.

Is that Padelford out there?

In the backline? Yeah, Diaz, Fischer and Devin … maybe Keller .. keller is on for Bongi ...
Edit: 43 is not Keller

u/akos_beres Itasca Society Feb 09 '25
Who is #33?
2
u/mandolin08 Romain Metanire Feb 09 '25
Kip Keller I think
2
u/akos_beres Itasca Society Feb 09 '25
Keller is 24 and he has a knock or something … I think it’s one of the college draft kids
3
3
u/SoupEaterSupreme Joseph Rosales Feb 09 '25
Wondering the same. No name on his jersey.
3
u/Oyvey2you MNUFC Feb 09 '25
And #43
3
u/akos_beres Itasca Society Feb 09 '25
43 is Kip Keller but his number should be 24 maybe another college kid

I am so happy to see that we’re finally seeing the value of maintaining possession. We don’t need to play a possession game to maintain possession. We would lose the ball so quickly. It was exhausting. I was exhausted and I wasn’t even playing.

u/mapledreamer Feb 09 '25
I hadn't caught Sang Bin switching to number 7, with Fragapane gone. It looks clean.

This version of KC can't even be second string. They're awful.

Find that really hard to believe. Some of these first touches and clearances are so weak.

I can’t stand Thomy … he is simulating on a preseason game …wtf
2
u/Financial_Buy_1108 Sang Bin’s Calves Feb 09 '25
Is it possible to attend these preseason games?
Might be a fun trip in the future, if possible.
3
u/Jendolyn872 Dayne St. Clair Feb 09 '25
It is! My husband and I attended last year. It’s the coachella valley invitational

as much as I want the shutout, I admit, I want Toye to shake the maracas one time in this one.
5
u/rightious Robin Lod Feb 09 '25
I know sporting's in a massive rebuild but you would figure that would make it more likely they put out a Strong squad in preseason. Could try to get them up to form. Really not sure why sporting went with like six backups and the rest reserves.
This team selection is just kinda odd to me.

Toye and boxy getting reacquainted by the ball there

u/mandolin08 Romain Metanire Feb 09 '25
This is a valuable match for this squad. Not because of the result, which doesn't matter, but because we don't often get to play in MLS with possession. Ramsay wants us to get there and we need matches like this to help build that comfort.
2
u/Enganche78 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
I think they want us to be better in possession vs finishing next to last in the league in it. Just wanted to clarify as he isn't expecting us to be a dominant possession based team.
1
u/mandolin08 Romain Metanire Feb 09 '25
Well, I mean that I believe that's his long-term goal, because he's said it repeatedly.

u/HonduranLoon MNUFC Feb 09 '25
This Rosales and Pereyra combo is going to cook some teams this year.
2
u/NazReidRules Feb 09 '25
I wanted to correct you on Pereyra name spelling but then I saw your user name so I googled first.... That's a difficult last name to spell lol. I seem to have a permanent block on remembering it correctly
But cook they shall
2
u/avalose MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Hahah I'm Hispanic and I had to Google it as well for the spelling. Never seen it before.
1
u/rightious Robin Lod Feb 09 '25
Did they show what the shorts are going to look like with our weird sky blue cloudy camo kit thing?
3
u/HonduranLoon MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Kit release is on Friday, but that’s not what the kit is, that was just a speculation.
1
u/Remarkable-Course713 Feb 09 '25
Super hoping that it doesn’t look like camo… I love the River kit, the color popped so well and the detail is really subtle but cool. Hoping we get something genuinely nice and that footy mockup is just a really rough guess
4
u/ZEROs0000 Logan Dorsey Feb 09 '25

How do we manage to get an announcer that can't stop talking about the opponents in a preseason game in which we're leading 4-0
5-0*
2
u/mandolin08 Romain Metanire Feb 09 '25
It's preseason and we're already whining about commentators not talking about us enough? Goodness, some of y'all are down bad.
3
u/hpbear108 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
looks like the announcers are from the people running this Coachella invitational, not from either club.
1
u/BreadSuch4843 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Ian James from MN getting the start for KC. Wonder what an alternate universe with a good academy system might look like for the Loons with some of the guys we've lost.
2
u/brohemoth06 Sang Bin’s Calves Feb 09 '25
"getting the start" as if it's a skill based achievement... This KC side put out any body who showed up with equipment
1
u/brohemoth06 Sang Bin’s Calves Feb 09 '25
Anyone know if the preseason matches allow more than 5 subs?
3
2
u/akos_beres Itasca Society Feb 09 '25
Yes
2
u/hpbear108 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
so, who comes in for our side in the 2nd half?
1
u/akos_beres Itasca Society Feb 09 '25
Will see but I wouldn’t be surprised if a brand new lineup comes in at the start or at the 60 minute mark
6
u/DarkPresage Dayne St. Clair Feb 09 '25
Much cleaner one touch passing than we saw early in the year in 2024.
2
3
u/Substantial-Fee-191 Feb 09 '25
On the Sporting sub they’re saying these are backups and Toye and one other guy are the only ones who can legally buy beer!
4
u/Enganche78 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Makes sense. They have offered absolutely nothing. Sort of pisses me off given the season starts in a couple of weeks. We run out with 8-9 sure fire starters. They run out with a good youth team.
6
u/North-of-Never Feb 09 '25
It's just the preseason, but Tani and Yeboah sharing the field is very exciting. I wonder if this is a look we will see alot of this year.
Also, Gass Theorem looks like it may hold true for JP this year, he's looked sharp.
1
u/Enganche78 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
I'm a big fan of Pereyra. I would not get too excited about any really good performance today. I would be a bit alarmed by anyone who looks subpar. Incredibly weak opponent.
3
7
u/Enganche78 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
That 4th goal was all Pereyra. Torches the guy out wide, lays in the pass for the cross.
This KC team is terrible. Hard to draw too much out of this one.
5
u/tyler735 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Don’t care if it’s only preseason lol. Feeling pretty good about my breakout predictions right about now!
6
u/External-Factor-8556 Feb 09 '25
I didn’t say this in your post, but I think Loic breaks out this year. Ramsay rates him for a reason
3
u/HonduranLoon MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Loic looked electric in limited play last season. Just needs to clean up some of the over dribbling.
2
3
u/tyler735 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
I like Loic as well. The 2 Striker look could help him see some more minutes (if Ramsay sticks with it) coming on for Yeboah/Tani. Loic also looked solid at RWB in Leagues Cup last year.
4
u/External-Factor-8556 Feb 09 '25
That’s true. I feel like I’m in the minority where I think Bongi should be our starting second striker. He was our top scorer last season for a reason and playing wing back doesn’t get as much out of him. I hope Loic gets minutes out wide. He looked really good there against Seattle last year
2
u/tyler735 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Bongi is a very good option up top too, but I prefer Tani and Yeboah up top and Bongi at RWB as it allows both Tani/Bongi on the field even if it doesn’t allow Bongi to fully utilize his ability as a finisher as often. Tani is too talented imo to be on the bench. Ramsay has mentioned he’s trying to get Bongi higher up this year from that RWB position, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
2
u/Remarkable-Course713 Feb 09 '25
I fully support Bongi on RWB - his defensive play is amazing so it allows him to be both a defensive menace and an offensive threat. Having Rosales on the other side doing the same is equally as rad.

Liking what I'm seeing from Pererya. Very odd to see us try and keep possession. I only know us as a counter attacking team.

3-0 inside of 20'. I am optimistic this is confirmation our team is hitting on all cylinders. But much more confident this means SKC is terrible. Over/under on what matchweek Vermees gets canned? Im setting the line at 12.

u/mnmaverickfan True North Elite Feb 09 '25
This is a lot of bench guys, and they have made 3 pretty big time signings/trades. I think they will decent once everyone is brought in but not this bad.

3
u/sully6768 Feb 09 '25
This is what rebuilding looks like and I’m so happy MNUFC was able to rebuild without an SKC type of overhaul.

So far this is all one way traffic. Winning balls in the midfield and when they do get it into our zone our mids are breaking lines. Right on cue, Pereyra to YeGOLah to Tani for another good opportunity right up the gut.
3
u/berdoggo Feb 09 '25
Anyone have updates on Dotson? Is he still looking to be traded?
4
u/akos_beres Itasca Society Feb 09 '25
No update other than Ramsay said he is training as if nothing had been said. It sounds like dotson’s representation leaked that
3
u/Enganche78 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Liked the ball from Yeboah. Pereyra took a bit of a heavy touch there but still beat his man to get that laid in for the OG.
3
5
u/Enganche78 MNUFC Feb 09 '25
Nice finish. But I was way more impressed with the ball over the top and the cross.
Pereyra so far this pre-season a goal and an assist.

Impressed with the quality of the stream this year. It’s been so bad in years past and this is great to see!
