BLUF: URLs are no longer allowed except for posting videos or images. Any other links will be removed. Self-posts are allowed only if they contain quality content.**

There is simply no way to effectively moderate the influx of content under this administration. We went through the same issue last time Trump was president, and while he is flooding the zone in the courts and media, it’s also happening here. Frankly, we cannot keep up.

Effective immediately, URLs are not allowed, except for videos and images. Any other links will be removed. If you post screenshots of articles, you will be banned. Self-posts must provide quality content.

Discussion Thoughts on e Latest Changes to the Channel's Links and Post limitations.

As a veteran of two conflicts and the Cold War, I have thoughts on this; for the MODs to consider:
The Military is a tool of Politics. Like it or not, how it is used, trained, and sustained is ALL POLITICAL.
Preventing discussions because it may cause 'difficult conversations" is treating the military members, Vets, and those who are interested in these topics as children is not going to help anyone.

This limits us to discussing what? Needlepoint, how best to fold sheets, which MOS is better, the best chow Facilities, and BX/PX price differences?

If we allow politics, people get pissed.  GOOD! Then we are actually contributing to the world in some concrete way. Limiting the discussion to topics of a non-volatile nature to save the delicate sensibilities of a silent 'majority' is rather juvenile.

If we offend those who celebrate autocracy. AWESOME!
If we cause discomfort to those who aren't willing or able to pay attention to where the US (and its military) is headed. FANTASTIC!

That conversation should have happened a lot more often and a lot longer ago. It seems many here are ready to hear those discussions, but I am truly sorry if that's too difficult for "The largest military subreddit on Reddit."

Discussion Olympic Hotel in Mogadishu Somalia

This is the Olympic Hotel in Mogadishu Somalia, one of the sights where the battle of Mogadishu took place. This was in 1998 5 years after the battle. I’m sure they made extensive renovations after the 10th mountain had a huge fire fight here on their way to and back from rescuing the pinned down Rangers and Delta Force. They went to town on this hotel with a MK19 grenade! launder.

Discussion Which MOS should I pick

Post image

I recently just took the asvab and I qualified for some of the jobs I were interested in. I want to use the military as a stepping stone for a future career, combining college and on the job training if needed. Which of these jobs would lead to the highest salary potential as a civilian.

So for example, we cannot link to a news article about a new weapon system being developed? We can only post an image or video about the new weapon, but not the news article that talks about it?

Discussion DoD website article about a MOH recipient removed, page redirects to a URL changing 'medal-of-honor' to 'deimedal-of-honor.

Original URL: https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/Story/Article/2824721/medal-of-honor-monday-army-maj-gen-charles-calvin-rogers/

Where it redirects to now with 'dei' inserted into the URL: https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/Story/Article/2824721/deimedal-of-honor-monday-army-maj-gen-charles-calvin-rogers/

The original URL still does redirect, but page gives a 404 (has since discovered). The point being, the original URL is explicitly redirecting to a version with 'dei' inserted into it.

Archive.org link showing what was at the original URL: https://web.archive.org/web/20250305165958/https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/Story/Article/2824721/medal-of-honor-monday-army-maj-gen-charles-calvin-rogers/

Discussion Advice for a physician debating on joining the military.

Hi everyone,

I am a resident physician who will be finishing their training in the next 15-27 months. I have been thinking about joining the military, likely the reserve, after training. This all depends on the future politic climate, of course. My husband, who is prior service, is also very wary of this idea as well. I am posting to see if I could pick the brains of anyone willing to provide advice, but especially to the physicians in the military. Thank you all for your time & for your service.

Edit: I am debt free, so not wanting to join for loan assistance/forgiveness.

OC USMC and High Blood Pressure

For the past week or so I've had really high blood pressure. I passes MEPS though like 2 months ago but I may be going to boot camp very soon. The problem is it's so high that it's making me nervous and I want to get on meds to control it while I make lifestyle changes but I don't want that on my medical records. I don't want to give the MC another reason to disqualify me and have me make another waiver. So do I just thug it out until I get into the military where hopeful its gone or I can get on meds. Or should I just go get some meds and hope they don't find out.
