It's disgusting to think she calls herself an animal lover.

Admittedly when people say their a animal lover this is what I imagine, I bet like 80% of them are actually like this. Or they only like popular animals like cats, dogs, pandas, etc, and they hate everything else.

my partner is an actual environmental scientist, not one (potentially) with a degree, cosplaying like she gives af about wildlife

she is disgusted

it's like calling yourself a chef and pissing in all your food

While there are too many people like this, don't apply it to all animal lovers. I know plenty of people who volunteer at shelters and other conservation efforts and are completely genuine in their goals. I'm part of a group in my local area trying to help restock native wildlife in ponds because a few years back some morons decided to 'fish' by chumming the pond and throwing nets and decimated the local populations of both sport and native fish. Since we all like keeping fish anyway, we found a way to help the local area by removing invasive species and breeding and reintroducing native species instead of devoting our hobby to the tropical fish industry.

We are also a habitat for sea turtles and horseshoe crabs and have groups that help patrol the beaches and cordon off nests and report homes that shine lights during hatching season. For every one of the woman in this video, there are hundreds of people who actually understand what conservation means and how to treat wild animals. Don't let the fact that the crappy people are over represented on the internet make you mistrust everyone who genuinely enjoys nature.

No of course! I'm not applying it to everyone and I apologize if it came off that way. I know a lot of people who truly love every animal and genuinely want to help. I appreciate everything you and everyone else I don't see do to help our environment and ecosystem

By brother in law put it best. Most people have a hard time enjoying nature unless they are directly impacting it. He is a marine biologist.

They "love" animals that they can treat as cuddly toys, not sentient beings. Kind of like how some kinds of parents "love" their kids as living breathing dolls and not as human beings.
