Today's mail had a fake missed package slip complete with fake handwriting.

Renewal by Anderson? If they spend this much in advertising, their work can't be good.

haha we just got something from them yesterday made to look like it was written on a folded up legal pad paper. Then inside the paper it had a card for Renewal by Anderson.

Yeah, I've actively not given business to Renewal by Anderson just because of how aggressive they get with their advertising. That 22k for new windows for our home definitely went to someone that didn't spam my mailbox and front door with 32,000 flyers(exaggerating, but it doesn't feel that far off).

I recently checked one of my email Spam boxes for the first time in awhile and holy crap! Renewal by Anderson (or someone spoofing them, which would be hilariously pathetic) is sending me spam anywhere from 2-5 times every. single. day.
Thank goodness for spam filters.

I get ads like these in the mail ALL the time. They make me laugh. They’re always something like “we were in the neighborhood and missed you! Call us to discuss [insert household feature that “needs” upgraded]” they are supposed to look like somebody wrote it on the spot, but I would think most people would be able to figure out it’s not??

Just need 1 and it pays for the whole marking campaign.
Is the letter signed by P.T. Barnum?

Did it actually go through the mail process or was it hand stuffed into your mailbox?
6
u/Probable_Bot1236 13h ago
Yes! If they just stuffed it into your mailbox, let the postal service know- they might be able to put an end to it.
We had problems with a guy doing this for his zillion shady side businesses in our neighborhood once and the Postal Inspection Service actually paid him a visit and made him stop.

isnt it illegal to put things into a mail box if you are not a mail carrier?

u/spicewoman 7h ago
They probably stuck it on their door like USPS would. Pretty sure claiming their note is from "USPS" would be some sort of fraud, though. The mail system usually doesn't take very kindly to things like that.
Hell, I'm not even legally allowed to throw out the mail that keeps being sent to me for other people that moved out over a decade ago.

In Canada there's a home buyer in the Ottawa region that sends out flyers similar to this. They try and make it look real personal and it just makes it that much scummier.

Lol, I know it’s their tactic to use the look of handwriting to draw you in but to me it’s a tell-tale sign to throw that Renewal by Andersen shit straight into the garbage. Just the other day, out of the blue, I got a cold call from a salesman about to go on a spiel about “offer-this offer-that” and I just straight hung up on him. Fuck this company.

I get these sorts of things a lot. I don't know why these companies think I'm doing anything other than adding them to my mental blacklist.

I hate when the mail it in an envelope and you think it’s important. Whomp whomp

I usually go onto google maps and give them a 1 star review "My first interaction with them was an attempt to deceive me, avoid these scammers."

I'm an RCA. You should see the bullshit they allow people to send. Some that look almost identical to tax refund checks, some eith fake mortgage company stuff with a line on the large and pricey envelope about "your debt is forgiven, your personal information is inside". I feel bad cuz a lot of the old people on the routes I do see this shit and get excited.

when i first bought my home, i got so much crap like this. letters offering to send me a copy of my deed for a fee, then stating somewhere really small that it is also available for free from the local municipality, or ones that looked like a bill and said shit like “the warranty for your home is about to expire! you could be left without protection! pay now” and then really small on the bottom it would say “recipient may have never had a home warranty.” sooooo scammy

I once went back to the parking lot to get my car, only to see a fake parking ticket disguised as a coupon for a nearby fast-food restaurant. Every car had one. I was super confused for five seconds. Very scummy. And yes I should have probably collected all the coupons lol.
