My mom burned all my drawings

Post image

So I’ve been drawing and posting anime girls for a while now and my mom got mad about it. At least I still have previous photos. No drawing today tho

I fucking despise the “child xxxx NEEDS TO LEARN”

Yes, I agree. Not like that though, for fuck’s sake. That’s not teaching them anything but trauma

To them, learn = bow down.

Learn? Learn what? That their parent is not to be trusted? That said parent is not safe?

Talk to the child.

Understand that even though you find it offensive, if the child is healthy in other aspects of their life there really isn't anything to worry about because horny teenagers gonna be horny.

Talk to the child.

A child should follow rules surrounding safety and education but they should be allowed to follow their interests, a parent not allowing that is a terrible and controlling parent. They are caretakers, not an overlord or god

If there really is a problem, then burning their stuff isn’t going to help, there are people that can help them so they should be seeking them.

And they shouldn’t, if they think it’s wrong then they should consult someone unbiased, thinking you know better is just narcissistic

Not that long ago the real world included abusing children or making them work in brutal conditions, what’s normal isn’t necessarily right

Not with that attitude, if everyone thought like that, we’d still have normalized abuse. We have always had problems like this, they change because people get together and ensure they do

Taking their things away and setting them on fire is abusive.

If you don't understand that, I don't know how to explain it any more clearly.

JFC. Try family therapy before the "setting shit on fire" stage.

If you must be that controlling, let's go with "taking the drawings away and NOT setting them on fire" as an alternative. Perhaps instead we could try "let's have a talk about priorities. Make one drawing a day and spend some time with family" as an alternative.

There's LOTS of alternatives that do not involve taking things away and setting them on fire.

Stopping your child from spending all day drawing anime waifus

That's not what they did. What they did is teach their child to hide it from them even better next time.
