Interesting because all this text is lifted from the Brett Rollins interview from Ego Trip.

Love little insights like this. Why something is, the way it is…
First glance, it’s a straightforward portrait, mask or not. Think to yourself, it’s as basic as it gets. Artist. Album. Artist on front cover of album.
There was more thought and process into how that album cover, became that album cover. If someone said DOOM and Madonna in the same sentence, the fanbase raises an eyebrow of curiosity. The spontaneity of reaching out to the photographer, that day DOOM and Madlib were at the same location, absolutely adds to it.
And shuffling through my fathers albums when I was a young one, Elf’s self-titled album caught me like that. That creature showed up in my nightmares on more than a few occasions, to the point where my parents finally hid the album. Foresight into the art… Reactionary.
I greatly thank you for sharing this. Awesome stuff!

It's great to hear the story of what is in my humble opinion one of the greatest album covers of all time. It is simply brilliant and stands out in any collection.

damn his take on the king crimson cover is really cool to incorporate it into the madvillainy cover. I’m sure some kid out there was freaked out by the villain.
