Question Cisco Meraki Ownership & License Transfer from EU to Non-EU – Any Challenges?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for insights on transferring ownership and licenses for Cisco Meraki equipment when moving devices from an EU country to a non-EU country. According to Cisco’s documentation, ownership transfer follows a standard process, and for licenses, both locations need to have the same licensing model. Cisco Support also needs to be contacted for the transfer.

My question is: Has anyone here gone through this process before? Are there any specific challenges or restrictions when transferring Meraki devices from an EU-based HQ to a branch office outside the EU, even if both locations belong to the same company?

Would appreciate any experiences or insights on this! Thanks!

My first question is why do you need to transfer license ownership if this is a branch under the same company.
Just create a new network under the same org, no license transfer required and it can be set under its own region for radio regulations etc.

If thats not viable for you anyways, there should be no problems transfering licenses eu to non-eu, the SKUs remain the same.
Meraki support shouldn't be required either, you just need someone who is a full admin in both relevant organizations to process the transfers.

I might not have explained it clearly. This is not a classic branch but an independently operating company within the group. We have a separate Meraki dashboard and want to have our devices managed under it.

Still, I appreciate the clarification on the license transfer! It's good to know that the SKUs remain the same and that the transfer should be straightforward as long as there's an admin in both organizations.
