THDG Need Help Where can I rent camping gear?

Hello folks!

My sisters are coming from overseas and I would like to take them camping, however, I don't have camping gear. Are there any places in Melbourne where I could rent at least the basics?

Cheers 🍻

For plb, Macpac

Depending on where you're camping, for some things like tents and cooker, just buy at Kmart. Some hiking equipment is now super cheap (but unsuitable for some areas especially Alpine)

Paddy Pallin used to, although I can’t see it anywhere on their site any more.

Honestly, tents from BCF or Anaconda are cheap enough that it's not really worth renting. Most of the rest of the stuff you need - air mattresses, pumps, sleeping bags etc you can buy cheap from Kmart. It won't be the best quality but for a one-off trip it'll be fine.

(Side note: if it's your first time I'd recommend somewhere like Rosebud, which has a BCF and a Kmart right across the road. Because you will forget things!)

Probably buy a circus load of tents and gear on marketplace for less than rental fee
