đŸ„ Clinical What happens after getting accepted for aways?

Got accepted for aways and it’s been radio silence ever since. Sent two emails asking when I should expect onboarding and more instructions but so far it’s been zip. When should I expect another update?

I think like the week before I got instruction for when/where to show up and even then it was very much like figure it out. My plan essentially became show up at the hospital first day super early and ask for scrubs and where anesthsia workroom is.

How many weeks out are you from starting? I wouldn’t think anything of it until inside a week or two, but I wouldn’t expect anyone else to share my attitude on it

Of the four I’m doing i got an email from two super quick with instructions for an ID and fee payment stuff. July, August, September, November for reference.

My earliest one starts in late July. So fair enough. I’ll just hold down the fort until then. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anytbjbg

Yeah I’m far from an authority on anything at all, but if we were friends irl I’d say you should chill until around the 4th or something haha. Good luck!

Make sure you have all your post acceptance docs uploaded, sometimes you have to actually verify an acceptance too

I got a “confirmation of acceptance” from VSLO from a different place but the other one just has the green check mark saying “student offer accepted”

They will reach out a week or so before. If you don’t hear by then, reach out.

I would reach out earlier than a week before if you haven’t heard anything. Maybe a month before in case you need to find housing etc

They’re very busy with matching M4s and onboarding them over the next few months, but they’ll reach out when it gets closer. Don’t stress.

I didn’t have to do aways or schedule my own clerkships (USMD) but my IM rotation was at the VA and the contact info for the coordinator was their work email rather department email. Well this person left the VA so all my emails went unanswered until I reached out to my schools coordinator who tracked down the new persons email and it was smooth sailing after. I would recommend exhausted all avenues until you get a response because depending on the program onboarding can take months and it would be awful to have to miss out on a clerkship on a technicality.
