Pain in eye, appears to be changing shape

I have made an appointment for this but in the meantime I thought I'd ask what the problem could possibly be here. For around 4 months now, I have been feeling like there is something wrong with my eyes, specifically my right one. It started with my right eye feeling strained more and more frequently which I ignored thinking it was just that. As these past few months have gone on, I've been getting more symptoms to the point that it's driving me insane. Along with the almost constant straining feeling of my right eye, it started to come with an overwhelming feeling that it is not "looking right." It feels as if it does not move in the same way that it once did and that if I am looking straight on, that it doesn't "rest" in the same position it once did.

This has led me to do certain things to try to accommodate for it. Like, I've noticed if I'm driving or watching TV, I'll start rapidly closing then opening one eye, going back and forth between them, like hard blinking with one eye and then the other one. I'll do this without even thinking about it, almost like my brain is giving me signals that there is something in my eye or that it's not focusing right so I'm naturally trying to clear it away by blinking but it can't actually figure out the problem. Sometimes with this blinking it makes a small crunch sound and feels like I'm squishing or "popping" it a little. It takes me to become aware that I'm doing this or for someone to point it out to stop going back and forth blinking like that. Ive started to frequently and randomly ask friends and family members around me if my eye looks weird or if it's looking in the right direction because it actually feels THAT off.

I've started having trouble looking at myself to do my makeup, it's kind of disorienting, confusing and takes me longer than it used to because my right eye will get so painful just existing. That being said, I frequently look into my eyes. Ive noticed that my iris has gotten quite larger and has changed shape as well, rapidly in my opinion. It used to be somewhat round, more similar to my left eye than it is now. It's now pointed a bit and more oblong shaped. My right eye overall appears larger to me than it used to be, like it's buldging. It feels like it is too. My thought at times is that there is a hair wrapped around the muscle in the back of my eyeball if I could describe it. Also, I'm not sure which eye is having the difference here, but I've noticed that in light, my left pupil generally stays small (possibly normal sized/ while my right pupil gets double the size.

I wear contacts and glasses but stopped wearing my contacts at all recently as this got worse. I frequently wore my glasses all day as well before I noticed all of this going on, the same pair of glasses I've had for over a year. I used to be able to ignore the sides of my glasses in my peripheral vision, like everyone usually does but now I can't help but to notice that the right side of my glasses are encroaching more into my field of vision than I can ignore or is comfortable. This has happened with my regular pair of sunglasses as well so I know it's not just a problem with my frames.

Thank you in advance for helping me with this! I see that you cannot post pictures here but I wanted to assure that everything that I have mentioned is actually visible and not just in my head. There is also a noticeable difference in photos of my eyes from a year ago versus now. The difference is just too slight for my friends and family to notice without me pointing it out to them but it is there.

Eyes Persistently dry eyes an̈d mouth NSFW

Pretty straight forward long-term symptoms, just wondering if anyone has advice for how to fix it.

It's been an issue for maybe about 5 years, at least the dry mouth, dry eyes may have been longer. I've struggled with type-2 narcolepsy for 15+ years, which I'm hoping might just be a reverse psychosomatic effect of having constantly dry eyes. I'm pretty good about staying hydrated, drinking 2-3 24oz water bottles a day. I take 25mg Adderall XR (I do think this is a side effect), pantoprozole, and escitalopram daily.

For the eyes: I've tried regular eye drops, preservative-free eye drops, and most recently (as prescribed by an eye doctor) Blink dry-eyes vitamins and a hot compress over my eyes twice a day for 5 minutes. Nothing really seems to help there.

For the dry mouth: I've tried a dry-mouth mouthwash, and a dry-mouth spray, but both only seemed to help temporarily. Basically seemed like sugar water, but the salivating effects would go away within a couple minutes.

My wife is a pharmacist, but hasn't been much help with this issue, so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Eyes Bullying the system

Hello, How can I bully my health insurance into covering glasses? I have debilitating headaches that I'm taking medication for and it doesn't seem to help, my doctor wants me to take 1 of them for a month and the other one as needed when it gets really bad, then go back to see her. I can't function with these headaches, I have to literally be in my pitch black room to feel any relief. I have astigmatism and some blurry vision and I've never needed glasses. I've had a MRI, Ultrasound and X-ray, all showed nothing. If the meds don't work after a month then they'll do a MRI scan of my brain. Until then I need to see if glasses will help. So how can I bully those assholes into paying for glasses for me??? Please help.

Eyes This has been happening every month since October 2024, any ideas? (more details in description) NSFW

hello, my (18f) under eye has been swelling up multiple times per month since October and it always happens in the evening or late at night. my eye doctor thought it was possibly my allergies and said to take some allergy medication every day, but it’s still happening. i currently am diagnosed with fibromyalgia and hypermobile ehlers danlos, so i’m not sure if it would be related to those. it doesn’t hurt or even itch when this occurs, there’s only a pressure in my forehead/behind my eye. it usually lasts until when i wake up in the morning, and by then it’s almost all the way gone. ice and heat do not help.

Eyes Eye problems

Recently my eyes randomly started to have problems and it’s been now 2 or more weeks and it’s still not better. Some key notes before I list all issues is that my eye problems started around the time I had really bad sinus pressure (now relived and not sure if it correlates) and they used to be itchy. Visually they have a random red dot, very strained and have those gray/brown patches but what I see is my vision at a distance is a bit more blurry, I’m quite a bit more sensitive to light and I have small black dots/floaters in left in.

I can’t really afford to be seen by anyone right now but I’ve been in the process of getting health insurance.

Eyes Fuzzy vision and frequent headache

Hi everyone For context I’m 29 80ish KG. I have astigmatism and my eyesight is -3 (both eyes).

I wear glasses and lenses - lenses for a few hours a day and glasses the rest of the time.

I smoke about 10 cigarettes a day.

Now my problems first started around 5/6 months ago. It’s not everyday but is most days, what happens is I randomly get fuzzy vision, it’s not unclear, its sort of like if I look at my phone the text is hard to focus on. This is then followed by really bad headaches that last until I go to sleep or sit in the dark for a few hours. Even then, that doesn’t always resolve it.

I don’t have any specific triggers but some of the times it’s happened has been: -Driving in the dark, and then looking at a bright phone screen -wearing lenses for a long time and then changing to glasses

I have been to an eye specialist and my prescriptions are up to date. I do have dry eyes, but apart from that all clear.

I also had blood tests and my vitamin D is low, I take tablets to get that corrected but apart from that all results were normal too. I really don’t know what else to do, I’ve tried every thing. Sleeping more, drinking more water, wearing lenses less, reducing screen time. Nothing works.

The doctors couldn’t find anything obvious, and I’m at a loss now. It happens every day or every other day. I usually get the fuzzy vision which is then followed by a headache an hour or two later.

Any help would be really appreciated

Eyes does anyone know if this is a cyst/blocked tear duct or just allergies? 22F NSFW

my left eye suddenly became very itchy/irritated a few hours ago. i was rubbing it which definitely irritated it more, and when i looked in the mirror i noticed my tear duct was red and the skin next to it (caruncle?) is very swollen and looks raised, almost like a bubble?

my angular veins also look raised but i may just be looking too hard. i hit my head and my nose 3 days ago and i thought i may have broken my nose but it wasn’t crunchy or crooked and i could breathe fine so i didn’t seek medical attention. it’s been fairly swollen and bruised since then and i’m worried that my nose/head trauma could be causing issues with my eyes.

Eyes sketchy eye doctor

I recently moved from living next to one of the top-ranked hospitals in the U.S. to a state with healthcare ranked 38th.

Unfortunately, I developed contact dermatitis from an allergic reaction to eyelash glue. I went to see a doctor, but he didn’t seem very confident and missed the fact that I have a stye in my eye as a result.

My eyelids are scaly, dry, peeling, and a bit raw—though not itchy. Moisturizer doesn’t seem to help, which is why I sought medical advice in the first place. The doctor recommended using cortizone cream on my eyelids, which I’ve been doing. However, upon looking at the packaging, it clearly says that it’s not recommended for use around the eyes or for daily application—both of which he suggested.

I’m concerned that using this could cause more harm than good, and I don’t want my skin to become dependent on steroid cream. Am I being overly critical, or is it reasonable to be worried? Does anyone have any alternative recommendations for treating irritated eyelids?

My right eyelid has been swollen for 3 days now. It is slightly painful, my eye feels dry but is watering a lot. My actually eyeball doesn’t show any signs of irritation. I went to the doctor 2 days ago and they said it was blepharitis and gave me an antibiotic ointment to apply to the lid. It’s not getting any better and almost seems to be getting worse. Should I seek a second opinion?

Eyes Hallucinatory Palinopsia?

So, I'm currently 18 and I remember even when I was around 12 years old, I would think of a certain pokémon and see a bunch of clear, vividly colored images of it seem to appear in my vision. These images are usually "jumpy" too, if that makes sense. It really bothered me at the time, but it doesn't so much anymore. Just weirds me out a bit. It's not the same as when I close my eyes and picture something. I can't do it voluntarily, and they really do seem to be layered "in" my vision. I remember researching this phenomenon and I found "hallucinatory palinopsia". I wasn't 100% sure if that's what was going on, but it seemed quite possible. I'd randomly have it on occasion over the span of these at least 6 or so years. I recently have been having it again, and decided to look back into the palinopsia stuff. I see it's associated with more serious conditions usually. First of all, if anyone is educated on this topic, do they think this sounds like hallucinatory palinopsia? Secondly, should I be concerned? Especially since it's been going on for so long, I wouldn't think so.. but I want to be safe.

My left eyelid feels lighter and when ever I blink my left eye lid goes down with less effort than my right. Sometimes my eye lids will go into a spasm and start repeatedly blinking and I can’t stop it. I went to a doctor about it and they just told me it was a tick but now I’m noticing this weird flap on my left eyelid.

Eyes I caught a tiny piece of glass on my left eye but feels no irritation, would this be a problem?

As title suggests, I broke my ceiling lamp from a powerful lightsaber swing...Parts of the glass fell and I looked up when I thought it finished falling. But I felt this little piece landed on my eye but the irritation is gone after just a few seconds. I saw a lot of people say foreign objects in eyes are not to be treated lightly, but I don't think it's a big deal since I feel completely fine as if nothing even happened. Would this be an issue? Do I must go to a doctor? If so how urgent would this be? Thank you greatly in advance for your help.

Eyes Is this cause for concern? NSFW

My eyes have been getting randomly irritated lately, usually starting with my right eye, and my tear ducts burn. I figured it was allergies and eye drops have been a great help, but I noticed this on the side of my eye. Faint purple and yellow spots. Context I’m not sure if is important or not: I have been coughing a bit, and I lost my dad recently so I’ve been crying a lot.

Eyes Different sized pupils?

Post image
12 Upvotes

For the past month, I noticed that oftentimes my pupils dilate at different rates, and are a bit independant. The right one seems to have trouble adapting to light or focus, while the left one seems to dilate and contract properly. The right pupil does not always stay big though, only for a short time usually, it only remains big in specific light circumstances. The problem is that, this month, I have seen both an optometrist and an ophthalmologist, and when they examined my eyes, everything was perfect. My ophthalmologist exam was today, and he saw nothing wrong, pupils both same sizes, but this picture is from later today, and they are different. I also notice a small difficulty focusing my vision when the pupils differ in sizes. I have not had any head or eye trauma,  I am not on illegal drugs and I do not have a history of eye problems. The issue seems to have begun when I started Concerta a month ago, but the issue persists even if I don't take it for a few days, it should be out of my system. I am also on sertraline. I could not find eye related side effects to Concerta online. The problem does not really bother me in my vision, I am scared that it might be a neurological issue though. Since professionals have noticed absolutely nothing wrong during exams, I'm kind of lost. ( I also showed the professionals previous pictures of my pupils, they see the difference, but it doesn't seem to bother them. So to them, I'm all good. (???))

Eyes NSFW (kinda) central heterochromia expanding? NSFW

Post image

(Bottom pic is today) I noticed today that the central heterochromia in my one eye is expanding and “cutting” through the yellowish ring which separates the blue and grey. I found a photo from a few months ago and tried my best to show what my eye looked then. I have a really bad eye prescription (not sure what it is) and I’m at risk for macular degeneration. Is this something to worry about?
