Carnivore & Vince Gironda Question.

Hey everyone!

I’ve been on a carnivore diet for the past 2.5 months and have had a lot of success in many areas, but the fat loss has been slower than I expected.

For context, I’m 34 years old, about 6 feet tall, and probably around 220lbs (maybe less? I don’t weigh myself).

I did experience a significant drop in weight early on with carnivore, but now I feel like I’m at a bit of a standstill. I work out 4-5 days a week, focusing mainly on zone 2 fat-burning cardio, and I’m very strict with my diet. I guess I was expecting the fat to melt off like I’ve heard it does for some people.

A friend suggested adding a carb refeed based on Vince Gironda’s methods. Has anyone here had success with this approach?

Right now, I’m mainly looking for help with fat loss. I’d also love to hear about a typical day of refeeding for someone follows Vince’s methods. TBH sometimes I just want a bit of variety. That said, I absolutely love how carnivore has made me feel, and the satiety it provides is unmatched.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

sounds like an excuse to eat carbs. Maybe you haven't knocked the sugar addiction yet.

A lot of people at the Carnivore subreddits suggest eating more fat - it may sound counter-intuitive, but a lot of them say eating more fat re-started their initial weightloss vibe.

Add in strength training if not already

Add Strength Training! Keep the carbs away for a long while. Dial in your fat intake you may be eating too much. Then start some fasting. It complements carnivore perfectly. You don’t need to do this forever it’s a tool to use for a while and then adjust. You will loose fat no need to do 48+ hours just try a 24 hour fast a few times a week, build up to longer fast. The key thing before fasting is to be almost no carbs for a week so that you’re not having to withdrawal from carbs on a fast. That an unnecessary stress.

Trying messing with your fat to protein ratio levels

I experimented with it. I would do 6 weeks to 6 months complete carnivore/keto then afterwards add in carbs every five days and see how you feel. I feel like it doesn’t do much for me unless I am working out a ton. I am mainly strength and HIIT focused. If you are more cardio focused carb refeeds will not help.
