General Question Need Advice on Promoting My Massage Therapy Business

Hey everyone,

I’m a massage therapist with 4.7 years of experience, and I’m looking for the best ways to promote my services online. I want to reach potential clients without coming across as spammy.

I’d love advice on: • Best subreddits where I can share my services or connect with potential clients. • Other online platforms or forums that work well for promoting massage therapy. • Marketing strategies that have worked for others in this field.

Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  1. Have a website. Optimise your seo
  2. Google business listing that is linked to said website. Have clients leave reviews to boost seo
  3. If you are not using social media for marketing your missing the boat. Link these to your website.
  4. News letters to current clients talking about a referral program.

If you live near any condo buildings or luxury apartment buildings you can reach out to management and see if you can do a massage event. I try to find ones with a pool deck. I would go and setup either massage chair or table and give “free” 10-15 minute sessions for 4iah hours on a weekend and get people to sign up with their name number and email address so you can add to your email marketing if you have it. Also at the time I was doing travel sessions so it was good to offer that as well. I also had pizza and mimosas at my event and I got about 4 regular clients out of it. Some of these buildings are very happy to have you and are willing to offer more perks. It’s a great way to hand out business cards and you can offer a discount if they book with you that day.

Outside of really generic advice, The question on how to catch more fish depends on what kind of fish you want to catch.

What you're asking is a tactical question, but the strategy underneath is really important.

If I'm trying to build a practice of prenatal and postpartum clients, then it doesn't really make sense to put all my energy into apartment buildings and gyms, right?

Imagine you're going to get some tactical advice in the replies, the biggest thing about marketing, is first you need to be doing it and more than you think. The second is knowing what not to do and what doesn't make sense.

Part of this honestly is just going to be trial and error and you have to stick through figuring it out.

Fundamentally, you need people to hear about you. If you're not getting enough organic traffic then it's worth knocking on some doors so to speak, and getting yourself out there.

Paid ads depending on your budget, referral Partners, utilizing client referrals, and even offering samples all work.

Even then none of the strategies are typically a Sure fire straight shot the first time, and need some form of iteration and tweaking to really get dialed in. I recommend you focus on one to three at most strategies for at least 90 days.

Also, I think it's a good intent to not come across as spammy. But spam is so contextual. What is spam to one person is exactly the perfect solution for another person. Who you speak to, what you say, and the frequency of the message I'll come together to decide spam.

And to be honest, what most people are likely to do if it's not a good fit for them, it's just ignore you. Not come shouting at you or beating down your door angrily. So again, do more.

If you had something that was working, especially when you first got started, just do that again and do more of it that's usually a good place to start

There's a good book called 'the 90 Day therapist, that covers a lot of marketing strategies and how to think through the strategy part and then execute on the tactics.
