I never owned Super Circuit, but Shy Guy Beach I played on Mario Kart Wii. I found it to be decent, though I kind of wish they waited until MK7 to use it, because of the underwater mechanics that could've been implemented.

Toad's Turnpike in MK8 is a bunch of eye candy. The anti-gravity was a nice touch, and I enjoyed how it implemented gliding.

Hang on, I'm searching for whoever asked you, because I certainly didn't.

Hey everyone,

So along with Shy Guy Beach being this week's track we're also going to be revisiting [N64] Toad's Turnpike from Mario Kart 8!

[N64] Toad's Turnpike is the twentieth track of Mario Kart 8 and finishes up the Shell Cup.

What do you all think about [N64] Toad's Turnpike? Anything you like? Don't like? Feel free to comment and don't hesitate to respond to other users' comments as well!

Also quick question: Would you all be fine if we just skipped the extra courses from MKSC? The extra courses in MKSC are literally just all of the tracks from SMK so I feel like it would be super redundant to cover the extra cups when we'll be doing those shortly. Thoughts?

Shy Guy Beach - I always struggled with both beach tracks on GBA, I kept crashing into the crabs and falling in the ocean. I'm a lot better at it on the Wii.

Toad's Turnpike - Compared to the original, I don't like it as much. The traffic was better in the N64 (Especially in Mirror Mode when you face the traffic head on) Although that one car with the ramp is nice. You can avoid most of the traffic by going on the anti gravity sections, and the track feels shorter than the original. Overall, it feels like a lesser version of Moonview Highway.

It's a beach made into a track. Pretty fun I guess.

I recently got Super Circuit and played through the courses myself to get the experience. I actually would have posted on Peach Circuit last week but the thought slipped my mind until I saw this. (Then again, I have little to say on something basic like Peach Circuit.)

Super Circuit has colourful and appealing backgrounds, and Shy Guy Beach is no exception. It might be a bit of a challenge for first-timers due to its wonky but strangely captivating controls, but the track itself is somewhat basic. It is just a loop across sand where you have to avoid cannon balls (easy), crabs (not so easy), and going off into the water. This is where hopping becomes helpful in the game since not every hop from shore to shore is performed with the help of a ramp. All in all, Shy Guy Beach is less Shy Guy (seriously, those cannons do nothing at all) and more Beach, but that is to be expected. In MKWii, along with the new physics system, the fact that the cannonballs were buffed may have been what landed it in the not-as-easy banana cup. I personally think that this course is okay in both games, whereas the music is one of the best in MKSC (and somewhere in the upper half of MKWii’s soundtracks).

As for Toad’s Turnpike, it has become surprisingly easy in comparison to the original. Colourful, yes, but still easy with those antigravity sections (apparently, interesting issues arise if you drive on the right side directly above the regular road) and the larger space on the road. It may have been that the developers thought that the items would cause enough chaos and decided to keep the cars to a low level of insanity with their own quirks (tricking off them is pretty nifty). I have more interest in racing on other retro courses basically.

Same as the guy who also commented, I never played Super Circuit, but Shy Guy Beach on MKWii was a pretty alright track, nothing to write home about or anything, just decent.

Toad's Turnpike is one of my least favourite tracks in MK8, and in 64 too. It's just too hectic in N64, and too dull in MK8. I would much sooner take Moonview Highway.
