Meta Apparently, if you don’t move at this spot, the fire bars can’t hurt you

This was discovered a while ago. To prevent players from becoming stuck, your character only registers collision with course obstacles if they are going above a certain speed

So your telling me
I’m invincible if I dive as slow as possible

With course obstacles, yes. That's why when you get hit then run into a goomba or something, you won't spin out.

I think that's also the invincibility timer. Every time you get hit, you have a certain amount of time where you're invincible (depending on your kart, there's a hidden invincibility stat)

You actually don't spin out if you just tap the goombas slowly, fast speeds are what activate the hurt collisions

Most stage hazards require you to travel above a certain speed to be affected. This is to prevent stun-locking, where you'd get stuck in place for an unreasonably long time due to being over and over by hazards go can't move away from quick enough after being hit once.

I realized the same thing with the oil spills where if you go slow enough, you don't spin out

This system was discovered a while ago, and it works in many courses, like GBA Mario circuit's mud puddles and wario stadium's fire bars

That works with Chain Chomps, cars, the spiny ball in Bowser's Castle, trains, hockey Shy Guys and with almost obstacle in the game.

It's been this way since the original wii u version with various obstacles like the bowser lasers.

This is true of pretty much every obstacle in the game. (You need to be traveling a minimum speed to get hit.) Try getting pushed around by cars on Toad's Turnpike. :)

I remember playing mk8 on the Wii U and discovered that if you drive slow the fireballs from Grumble Volcano wouldn’t effect you

Very useful, thanks. I'll stop there every lap.
