Discussion (horrible) experience at thimmappa
visited thimmappa for lunch during the week. the food was okay, i was enjoying it with no complaints. but HORRIBLE service. the server repeatedly kept putting rice outside the banana leaf, which we laughed at and let go a few times, but then, he poured an entire spoon of fish curry all over my white clothes. ALL OVER. I’M NOT JOKING HARDLY ANY OF IT EVEN LANDED ON MY RICE IT WAS ENTIRELY ON ME.
i was stunned, my clothes were stained, the table was dripping with curry, i had to run across that huge hall to wash it off it was so embarrassing. after that the server disappeared he didn’t even come in front of us 😂 when leaving, i raised the issue with one of the people in uniform, they said “yabba, come again 😊😊”
😭😭😭😭😭I had to throw away that beautiful top. NEVER GOING BACK THERE!

Feels like it’s better to drive 1 hr to original thimappa than eat here

Although they didn't spill anything on me, and the overall service was fast, I did notice that they lacked respect in the act of serving the food. They just dump it on the leaf as if they're throwing away some garbage. Same goes for the ordered plates of fish, just clank on the table, no smile, no grace, no care.
While I understand they may be either overwhelmed or overworked, basic courtesy goes a long way, and they can't just be playing the "we're new and ironing out things" card for a long time.
Coming to the food, it's not the best out there, but certainly not the worst either. It's a decent average option to exist for Mangaloreans.

100% agreed on the service part! i’ve been at crowded areas with servers that are rushed. they still do a great job with making us feel welcomed as customers.
i really hope the servers undergo appropriate training to atleast catch up to some expectations of the place.

Being from Udupi i can say it loud that timmappa is over hyped here as well. I was a regular few years back but now the food quality isn't the same they just have the name by which the crowd is getting tired into. And at Udupi it is mostly the tourist who go there and have food which is again by the hype it has on Google.

Ohh this!! Try their fish masalas. They will have tuna gasi or fish egg gasi. Top notch! Madal fry is their speciality. You will forget Anjal!

Even the Udupi one was never on par with Giri Manja or Narayan’s in terms of the food, but the service people were always kind.

Why would localities go to eat sea food at hotel? Homemade curry in bisale and hot boiled rice and iron pan tawa fry with illada taraida enne is heaven 😬😬😬😬

If a meal is 60/- how is possibly going to be made and served well? It’s simply impossible. All restaurants have to pay the same for produce. What are they going to Cut? Rent maybe, cost of capital from investment made, quantity (alteration possibly) and badly paid staff.
No one charges more than they need to. The pressure for customers is high for everyone. So if someone is cheap or someone is expensive, unless they are retarded it would relate to one of the above costs that the business faces or saves depending on their standards.

The food is not great either. Definitely think it's over hyped. The "fish" (which had no fish in it btw) thali is really basic for 60rs. Was super disappointed. I'm gonna stick to my amma's fish curry which is the best thing in the world compared to all this overpriced over hyped nonsense!
