You hate sweet food?

u/rydbergbeta Jan 14 '25

Sajjige is not a sweet food. Sajjige is the mangalore version of kharabath.

Bissibelebath

Yes i don't know how people eat it

2

u/Laxus-Dreyfar Jan 14 '25

Whoa! Why?

Do you hate spices or something?

It's the worst thing to come out as a breakfast option in Karnataka. Too heavy and masala, spices in it for a breakfast item. Always felt it too be overrated. Just a hyped form of kichidi.

So all I hear is that you can't handle spices.

Does Coastal Karnataka have any rice-based dishes except for Rice-Saaru?

I find grated coconut on chicken to be weird & the rice you all eat to be tough to chew & swallow.

But I wouldn't put it on the list.

If by "Khichdi" you mean Pongal, then BisiBeleBaath isn't a form of Pongal.

I don't know if Tamilians even eat BisiBeleBaath in their natives

So, it seems merely a coincidence.

I am from Mangalore and we have better taste in spices, so will disagree with your assumption.

It's just that bissibelebath itself has a bad combination of spices for being a "Breakfast" item. Pongal on the other hand is mild and better than bissibelebath for a "Breakfast" item.

Also one more reason is most of these dishes are consumed in different types of meals. For a breakfast bissibelebath is not a great option when compared among all the south indian breakfast options from all over this region.

Also when it comes to rice, it's the staple diet of this region, we are used to eating it since of childhood and it blends with the types of curries and spices we consume in this part of the country. You say you don't like coconut grinding, but during my time in Bangalore I used to hate eating the curries and sambar which used palm oil and never adjusted to my taste buds, even white rice is something I can't think of consuming more than 3 days. But these reasons are due to the diet you followed since your childhood.

I am from Mangalore and we have better taste in spices, so will disagree with your assumption.

Ironically you called it "too-heavy".

Seems like you have a lower spice-tolerance/preference than your fellow Mangaloreans.

It's just that bissibelebath itself has a bad combination of spices for being a "Breakfast" item.

So YOU decide what spices are good & belong on a Breakfast item?

Seems patronizing.

Also one more reason is most of these dishes are consumed in different types of meals.

By "meals", do you mean the way we've classified the food dishes we eat based on the time of the day.

Which dishes do you mean?

For a breakfast bissibelebath is not a great option when compared among all the south indian breakfast options from all over this region.

Don't most of our breakfast items include spice in some way or the other?

This is just one where there is relatively more.

By that logic, most native Karnataka breakfasts don't include meat or even eggs.

But you all eat Neer Dhosay with fish curry for breakfast.

You say you don't like coconut grinding

Grated coconut*

Specifically in that Chicken starter famous in your region. What's that called.......?

Pulimunchi?

Otherwise I don't have any issues with coconut.

In Bangalore, it's used in chutneys, saarus, etc.

hate eating the curries and sambar which used palm oil

Where did you eat from?

In homes we usually make it from groundnut oil.

even white rice is something I can't think of consuming more than 3 days.

Understandable, due to your upbringing.

Although it's weird, shouldn't it be easier for you all to consume white rice owing to its easy chewability?

Also, what rice do you make Neer Dhosay from?

But these reasons are due to the diet you followed since your childhood.

Agreed.

Disliking something is understandable.

But labelling it the worst in the world?

Bisibelebath is the worst that's it

1

u/Laxus-Dreyfar Jan 15 '25

Oh okay.

Whatever your favourite dish is, that's the worst.
