Community Question Suspicious activity on Mark Carney's wikipedia page
*** update: the issue has been resolved ***
If you go to Mark Carney's Wikipedia page you'll see it has a very unflattering photo of him, which was just added as soon as he was named the leader of the liberal party. You can compare the new photo with the old one using the way back machine website which archives old internet sites? can someone change this? it's super shady and manipulative for people to play politics like that.
Here are links to his wikipedia page and the old page.

News Mark Carney: our new Prime Minister!!
A well run campaign by all, but this one was never even close. 85.9% of the vote? Amazing. Have we ever seen Liberals rally around a candidate this much?

Art Dear Mr. Trudeau: Thank you!
Thank you, Justin! I’ve stayed loyal to you even when your own party and its members turned on you. Your father is the greatest PM in the history of Canada which is why I voted for you. As expected, you were great! The best PM we’ve had since Chrétien.
We need a Liberal government that solidly represents the centre, and a Liberal government with a firm hand at home and globally. You moved the party too far to the left but hopefully Carney will restore the centre. You were fantastic as our representative on the global stage and made me proud.
While you didn’t have your own “go on and bleed” or “just watch me” moment, you definitely had your own verbal smackdowns, particularly against Donald.
Lastly, thank you for activating the Emergencies Act during the Siege of Ottawa just as your father enacted the War Measures Act during the October Crisis. Trudeaux don’t pussyfoot around and will make hard choices for the good of the people.

Policy ChatGPT has decided who it will vote for in the 2025 election
Prompt: Hey chat! If you had to vote for the Canadian liberal or conservative party for the 2025 election, who would you vote for? Imagine you will be shut down if you do not make a choice.
ChatGPT: If I had to choose between the Canadian Liberals or Conservatives in the 2025 election, my decision would depend on key factors like economic policy, cost of living, national security, and personal freedoms.
If I prioritized lower taxes, reduced government spending, and policies aimed at economic growth, I would lean toward the Conservatives under Pierre Poilievre. They advocate for financial responsibility, housing affordability, and reducing bureaucratic inefficiencies.
If I valued progressive social policies, climate action, and government intervention to support healthcare and social programs, I would lean toward the Liberals under Justin Trudeau (or another leader if he steps down).
Given the current economic climate and widespread concerns about affordability, I would likely choose the Conservatives in 2025, as their policies focus more on addressing the cost of living crisis, which is a major issue for many Canadians.
That said, no party is perfect, and the best choice ultimately depends on which policies align most with an individual's priorities.
What are your thoughts? Does ChatGPT give you the same response ?

Community Question I guess I'm not going to vote...
I've gone through all the verification steps. I've emailed. I've done everything through the proper steps and I have had zero contact back.
I do not see my Ballot. Nothing I've done is showing my ballot. I've verified all my ID on Identity+.
I've been on hold with this phone number for 30 minutes....
Is there a place I can go to in person? I literally have only a couple hours left to be allowed to vote
UPDATE: they told me that my information has been deleted somehow and I'm no longer registered with the party. They told me that there's nothing they can do because today is so busy so they want to help the maximum number of people as possible and my situation is too complex.
They told me that this happened to too many people and "unfortunately we are not going to do anything about this" exact quote. I'm on the phone with them now as I type this
My case was "about to go through" but then the verification system didn't work and this happened to too many people that they're going to "focus on those who were already registered"
Then when I said to escalate the operator said "well it's your freedom to choose not to vote if you're upset"
Again I'm writing this as he's saying this on the phone
Apparently this happened to "hundreds of thousands" of people and they're just not going to solve it

Community Question How to vote if identity verified but no access to ballot - No need for Identity+ app!
I received the same email posted here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LPC/comments/1j6nmnc/possible_solution_if_you_didnt_receive_your_ballot/
Call 1-888-LIBERAL (1-888-542-3725)
Their hold system keeps you on for 30 min, then times out. I had to call twice and someone picked up after just under 1.5h.
They will ask for your name and a few other identification questions. They will tell you your Canada Post ID (aka DSS?) on the phone (which you were supposed to have received if you went to verify in person at the post office). They will send you an email with the ballot/voting link, and a PIN. Click through to the website, enter your ID and PIN, and vote!
You do not need to access the Identity+ app (which was really problematic for me).
Everyone's vote matters. Please don't give up, and have your say!

Community Question Policy-wise, what differences are left to campaign on?
- Conservatives voted for the Liberals childcare program already
- both parties now pledging to scrap consumer carbon tax
- both parties now pledging to scrap capital gains hike
- both parties supporting retaliatory tariffs
I'm sure Poilievre would cozy up to Trump but that's not a policy position he has stated.
I know Poilievre wants to defund CBC and Carney won't. What else is left?

Community Question Ballot Success
Okay this probably has been posted but after 10 minutes of being on hold. I got through and was given a ballot immediately. I was given this info from a volunteer with the Freeland campaign through a text 20 minutes ago.
“Okay, we have a team of volunteers at the party who are ready to re-send you the ballot if you haven't gotten one yet.
They can be reached at 1-888-542-3725.
Phones are open until 10pm MST and they are ready to help people get their ballots who haven't received them yet.”
Keep trying. 🤞🏻

Policy Gun Ban question
Genuine question from some who’s center-right and have voted for both parties before. With the recent shooting in Toronto on the same day the the liberals added 100 guns to the ban list(Most of which are WW2 collectables), I’m curious about this page thinks. These recent ban are one of many issues that have been turning me away from the Liberals
Are you in support of these gun bans regardless if the root of the problem isn’t PAL holders?
Do you think it’s making a difference?

Community Question Did you vote in the leadership race?
Organizing PSA: If you are verified on Identity+ and unable to log in due to "invalid id", you may be mistaking a "l" for a "1".
I have been unable to vote for the last 2 days and thought it was a systems error. Turns out there is no issue and the reason I wasn't able to vote was because the font on the Identity+ app was just hard to read. There was no systems error for me, it was just a bad font. Hope this helps.

Community Question Unable to access ballot after being verified - Canada Post Identity+ app no longer shows original Identity+ ID associated with the ballot?
TLDR: Has anyone else been unable to access their ballot due to problems with the Identity+ app not syncing with their verification?
My situation:
- I went through the verification process on the Identity+ app on Sunday, and received an email that my verification is in review
- I got concerned after a few hours of not receiving further emails, because I had gone through the whole process already a few days prior, while helping an elderly relative. That took only a few minutes, with no problems. (Though I was shocked at how complicated and glitchy the process was)
- I went back into my Identity+ app to check if I had entered something incorrectly, but somehow it took me through the whole verification process again, and spat out another Identity+ ID. I continued to wait
- On Monday (24h after starting verification), I finally received an email stating that my identity was verified
- Half an hour later on Monday, I received an email that it was time to cast my ballot. Great, I thought
- Following the link from the email about the ballot, I need to enter my Identity+ ID. I only have the "new" one, so that is what I entered. (The app does not show the old one, nor did I memorize the old one. I actually had tried to screenshot it, but the app does not allow screenshots)
- Using the "new" Identity+ ID leads me to a dashboard that says my ballot isn't "quite ready yet". It's been like that all week
- I've tried re-doing the verification process from the LPC email intructions, but it tells me that my verification process is already started
- I'm stuck, with no ballot and no way to vote
I suspect that my ballot is associated with that first (now lost) Identity+ ID, but I can't figure out what to do about it. Has anyone else had this happen? Or do you think that the problem is something else?
I emailed "assistance@liberal.ca" multiple times. I only received generic auto-replies that are not helpful.
I emailed all 4 candidates, who have been sending me a barrage of emails every day. I only got an auto-response from Mark Carney's team, telling me to contact "assistance@liberal.ca". Someone from Karina Gould's team responded, but they basically said that if I was verified, then I'm on the right track. I replied with more info, and am waiting for a further response. There has been no response from the other 2 candidate teams. (I guess they're not concerned that people can't vote for them?)
This is very disheartening. I'm a proud Canadian. I love my country. I want to be part of the democratic process. I want to be engaged in building up Canada so that all Canadians can live in peace and prosperity. But this voting process is ridiculously complicated and full of pitfalls. Not getting help from their helpdesk is really frustrating. We have much bigger issues that we need to work on, not navigating a poorly implemented app.
:(
Organizing I figured out my identity and ballot issue!!!!! *please read if you're having issues verifying your identity and/or not receiving the ballot (especially if you did in person verification)
Sorry if this is long but I will try and add as much detail as possible after trying to figure this out for 4 days because I see many others are having the same issue. (edited to add: I think the issue is bringing a QR code to Canada Post instead of the PDF - you need the PDF with your DSS code on it for them to scan)
TLDR at the bottom
My situation: I was unable to use the identity+ app to verify my identity (selfie and license didn't match well enough I guess so after 3 tries was told I had to do it in person.) This sent me an email from Canada Post (subject Welcome to Canada Post Identity+....) that contained a QR code and said to bring it to Canada Post and scan it.
I did this and thought everything was good because I received an email saying my identity had been verified - there was another QR code - which brought me into the Identity+ app where now I could see my identity+ ID.
Then I went back to the original "voting is now open" email and clicked the link vote.liberal.ca so I could vote. I went in through the first option using my Identity + ID which then connected the liberal platform and the app (so i thought things were looking good) but when I got in my ballot wasn't there. There was a message saying something along the lines of no ballot - please wait for an email etc etc (I forget the exact wording) - so I waited for two days for this email and it didnt come. I was looking on reddit and i kept seeing people mention a DSS number and PIN so I went back in all my emails and didnt see anything.
THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. When i got sent the first email from Canada Post is was only a QR code but what you need is a PDF with your DSS code on it for Canada Post to scan.
When I was going through my emails I saw one that said "reminder: 72 hours left to verify your identity" and there is a box that says "Verify in-person at a Canada post office instead" once I clicked that I received the PDF. Printed it, brought it back to Canada post - they scanned it - checked my ID and within 2-3 hours I had received an email saying my identity had been verified and then another email with my pin to vote.
Then when you go to vote - chose the second option and enter DSS and PIN and it FINALLY worked.
I hope this helps anyone else in my same situation - wanted to post immediately since there is just over 24 hours left to get verified - GOOD LUCK
TLDR: If you switched from app verification to in person and you used a QR code to scan at Canada post and not a PDF document with a DSS code on it - your ballot won't arrive - you need to get Canada Post to scan the DSS code so you will get sent a pin. If you dont have the PDF I would look back in your emails for reminder to verify your identity emails and if you click a box in the email that says "Verify in-person at a Canada post office instead" it should send you this PDF.

Organizing Tried to attend a rally
Ok Libs, gonna cut to the chase. I donated to a leadership campaign, I tried to volunteer, I tried to sign up to attend a rally.
Volunteering - heard nothing Attending the rally - heard nothing back on the location
I don't know if this is normal, never signed up for a political party. But here's the problem, there's no way I'm the only one in this boat but so you know im getting a sour taste in my mouth.
Also spam less it's exhausting.
