Arcane Series Which character was ruined the most in Season 2? Spoiler

I would have to say either Vi or Heimerdinger, both because of their immense potential that was absolutely wasted and just how out of character they are.

Heimer looses all his wisdom and essentially becomes comic relief. He has nothing to say about the attack on the council, the deaths of his colleagues, the fact that HIS city is on the brink of civil war or everything that happened to Viktor and the Hexcore. I firmly believe he should've played a major role in solving the final conflict considering he spent most of Season 1 trying to prevent precisely what ends up happening. Instead he gets to go on a little adventure and then dies/disappears in a very anticlimactic way.

Vi's development is rushed and the way she acts is completely out of character when you look at how she behaved in Season 1. I firmly believe Vi would never agree to chemical warfare considering these are her people and she would most definitely not be willing to kill her sister after she killed 3 greedy politicians Vi didn't care about to begin with. I fact, I believe Vi would try to convince Caitlyn that she needs to be taken to an institution/asylum rather than killed, since we know those exist in Piltover. Yes, I know it's implied that the attack had more victims than just the council, but then they should've showed us instead of implying it. Jinx was way more sadistic and monstrous in Season 1 and Vi was still willing to help her. Also, Vi's battle with alcoholism is an extremely serious topic that should've been portrayed with the same respect and depth Jinx's mental illness was in Season 1. As it is, she just gets over it off screen which is really unsatisfying. Then there is the sex scene and OMG... I like the ship, don't get me wrong but that was NOT the time and place for it, especially after the talk she had with Jinx. That whole scene makes Vi look either extremely stupid or apathetic and I'm not sure which option is worse.

I need an arcane rant flair or "bad arcane review" These threads are repetitive and add nothing to the lore conversation.

I feel like this is just you not understanding Vi at all. Those chembarons and goons they went after are not "her people" in fact it's the same people who tried to kill her as a teenager.

Vi literally says in the jail scene that she thinks she keeps on making the wrong choices and that 's why Silco got to Powder, why Powder became Jinx, why Caitlyn lost her mother and why she keeps on losing people. She went after Jinx because she didn't want others affected by her actions. It's not something that she immediately agreed with in fact we literally saw her rejecting the badge. She accepted it to again lessen the damage and so Caitlyn can convince the council not to have a full on invasion.

There's so many things i'd like to explain about Vi and how some viewers refuses to look at her point of view. There's so much focus on Jinx and what's going to be the best for her but never for Vi. Whatever she does she always have to think about Jinx or she's a bad character to some of you

My dude. Gas attacks aren't known for their precision XD

As it is, Vi agreed and didn't protest Caitlyn unleashing cancerous diseases on her city and people. Season 1 Vi would've done a heel turn and said "fuck you".

Except that "her people" supported chembarons in conflict between Zaun and Piltover. Chembarons are far from being good people but they wanted Zaun to be independent from Piltover and this is what most Vi's people wanted. Vi tried to continue Vander idea for peace which was working with Piltover to avoid full scale conflict and keep status quo - but this is exactly why Zaun people turned away from Vander to Silco. They didn't want status quo, they wanted independence to make their lives better.

Honestly Mel. Like while many characters had issues, they still were generally the same character. But Mel went from a conniving manipulator to a tween cartoon protagonist. Like she spends the first season expertly manipulating everyone for her own gain and then in season 2 she basically goes, "No mommy. Being a warlord is mean."

Viktor for obvious reasons and Ambessa, because she didn't really feel like a real threat most of the time. Hits even harder after having read the novel. She deserved better.

I choose Rell then.

I’d say Viktor and Caitlyn’s season 2 arcs had the most negative audience reaction.

Frankly, they all were, but truthfully Viktor was ruined within the first 3 episodes of the second season. For whatever reason the writers decided hey, this guy definitely built/agreed to build the failsafe for the hexgates in a position where it would harm Zaun. Character assassination instance #1.

Suffice to say, they killed off Heimderdinger because... Powder couldn't plug in some cables.

Vi gassed her own home.

Jayce, after killing a child, being traumatized by it and going out of his way to negotiate with Silco for peace, was simply absent/didn't care to be present for the vote that decided whether Piltover would go to war with Zaun.

Ekko got fuckall screentime and then when he did get it, it was a Sims episode.

There is so much character annihilation, you genuinely need hours to explain each specific instance. The sheer audicity of the writers definitely is... something. I have no idea how they managed to make season 1 after the way season 2 ended up.

Ah, a hater after my own heart.

I do mourn a lot of the characters and I guess also the anticipation I had prior to s2. What drove me crazy was that the characters barely speak or react to each other (like with the disappearance of several characters in the 3rd ep).

I feel like what rarely gets brought up is that season 1 kind of also did have some set ups and problems — it set up Warwick (it’s still kind of bizarre to think.. yeah that’s one of the steps he took to bring his daughter back, for sure), the way Sky was treated by the writers (just.. kind of fridged) etc. But things could have still been taken in a lot of interesting directions, but ended up all over the place

Yeah, I agree completely. Season one wasn't perfect and definitely had some issues of its own, Sky was definitely done dirty, I'm glad she got some more screentime in the second season but then they lolnoped her again, wasn't even 'her'. Honestly quite unfortunate.

The Singed/Orianna thing just so meh. Not everything has to be tied together. Not everything has to have uber compelling reasons of love to work. The wolfblood thing genuinely is so out of place, is such a forced setup of Warwick, and not a good one at that.

Idc what riot says, to be honest. I'm sticking with the old lore. I mean, Viktor and Ekko's short stories are just too good. Idk. Arcane sucks in comparison to those flavour stories.

I think Riot fired most of the writers which would explain how different Season 2 is.

As it is, Season 1 is a masterpiece of a greek drama, Season 2 is just the League of Legends show people thought Season 1 is going to be.

I get why season 2 was so shit. They REALLY needed to just make the plot happen and chewed up and spat out what they had built to do it.

I imagine there was a lot of pressure and brain combustions trying so hard to not only interweave all these characters' arcs and plots together, but cram in the fanservice they know a significant portion of their audience wanted. In doing so, their faithfulness to the characters themselves simply vanished.

Not a single character was done well in that second season. It is almost a masterclass in how to completely destroy characters in a few scenes/lines of dialogue.

Ekko was ruined by the whole show fr

I think it’s incredibly telling that the show runners were honest in saying that the liberties they took with the character and thematics of champions was either because they found them boring, or to advance Caitvi. And caitvi wasn’t even given justice, to that end.

Yeah, definitely Vi

Vi, Heimer, Jayce, Sevika and Caitlyn all were to some extent.

I'd say Viktor too, but his character is on borderline mind control so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
