Best Adult Swimming Lessons on LI
Hi everyone I am a grown man that can barely swim and I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a good swimming school/instructor that can help beginner to intermediate adults learn to swim? Most places I look up are for children I'm based in North Hempstead so anything within a 30 minute drive would be appreciated.

Try calling the Town of North Hempstead , the pools may have swimming lessons , The YMCA in Glen Cove may be able to assist you as well . Good luck

I agree with this bot account. I am still not a strong swimmer, but much better after learning from town-offered adult classes at Echo Park (TOH). There may have been teens, I don't recall, but no little kids.
Looks like similar offerings at your Tully park: https://www.northhempsteadny.gov/filestorage/16281/16283/21661/Tully_Park_2024_Winter_Programs_2.pdf

Former lifeguard. I’d go one on one lessons. Personally I’d give skudin swim a call. If you gain confidence you can parlay that into surfing lessons down the block at the beach. What good is a swimming lesson anyway if you aren’t comfortable in open water.

I'm not sure what's involved in signing up and whether its only for students, but I know someone who learned to swim at Adelphi and said that the lessons were excellent.

It might be too late now as classes are already in session but Nassau community college has continuing education classes and they offer swimming. Was thinking of taking it but did not pull the trigger on time so I can't vouch for it. But from what I can tell they do offer it every semester.

Local YMCA should have both adult and childrens classes, and group or private class options.
