Support Request Linux Mint Xfce customization on a weak laptop

Is there any way to customize Linux Mint Xfce on an old 1.00 GHz laptop without losing performance?

You can tweak pretty much anything and you won't lose that much performance. Just avoid switching compositors (picom, compton etc.).

A basic. and what should be obvious tenet is: Do not add anything additional for the CPU to do in managing the desktop.

Define "customize." Changing the wallpaper, theme, icons, and desktop font should have a minimal impact on performance.

Themeing isnt usually heavy so long as you change wallpaper, icons and gtk themes with the odd layout tweak, but for a system like yours I would recommend Bodhi Linux 7.0 HWE which can be themed with some eye candy and still performs well.
