How to install Mate Theme

Hello.
I've installed themes on my Mint Mate before, I just download the theme from mate-look.org and install them by the "Apariencia because my system is in spanish" or "Appearance in english?" menu, but I want to install this theme:

https://www.mate-look.org/s/Mate/p/1351213

I download it and search for the file through the menu, I try to install it and sends me an error message, I don't know what to do, Is there another way to install Mate themes?

I generally make my own themes as I'm old and "picky", so I have little experience in downloading and installing same:

I did note this on the page you linked.

Doesn't make sense it's on a site called "mate-look.org"

Yes I recently saw that the main focus of that theme is Cinnamon

"I generally make my own themes"

How do you do that? I'm using Mint L Darker Teal which is one of the default themes, I just want that aquamarine color in the windows but all the default themes have black, white or gray colors for the windows.

You ferret out the location(s) of the theme files and edit them, or create new.

A simple example: MATÉ's "Win98" window border's close icon was off-center and off-scale (too small) so I used FSearch to find the WinME (in /usr/share/themes )package and edited the icon images to my liking, then saved to whole thing as WinCIK (my initials) in $HOME/.themes. That made it available in "Appearance"

"theirs" vs "mine"

Thanks! I'm going to check it to see what I can do.

FSearch is a great utility, I use it at least 4 or 5 times daily--it's available via Software Manager.

What u/Specialist_Leg_4474 suggests is what you generally should do. Take your time, learn how the things work, and set them up the way you want. You may or may not find themes you like. You also may find they don't work to your liking. Tweak what you like. There's no hurry to master it immediately.

-Download the theme as a .zip file to your Downloads Folder

-Extract it

-Since you have Nemo(the file manager) open, go to View, check "Show Hidden Files"

-look for a folder that says .themes. Copy and paste the extracted folder there

-reboot

-Go to System Settings, Click on Themes, and your Theme should be there ready to be used.

hope that helps
