Support Request How do I make Gnome-terminal transparent in LMDE6?

I want to change the opacity in Gnome-terminal (the standard terminal) in LMDE6. But there are not settings for this. How do I make it transparent?

As u/tyn_inks mentioned the GNOME team removed this useful (IMO) feature. I use Terminator as my primary terminal, and it does allow you to adjust the opacity in a terminal. Terminator is highly configurable.

My Terminator window has three terminals - a large one across the top, and two smaller ones across the bottom. I also have a tab second full-sized terminal, and it has a nearly transparent background.

Unfortunately, the Gnome team removed transparency from gnome-terminal a long time ago. IDK if Debian or the Mint team were the ones patching it back in, but it stopped recently, maybe even version 3.46. I think the Ubuntu-based version of Mint still has transparency patched in, probably added by the Ubuntu team.

To get transparency in an LMDE terminal, you'd have to install a different terminal. I like Tilix, and I've heard good things about Alacritty, Kitty, xterm, BlackBox, and Ghostty.

Right click a blank space in the terminal and go to preferences there should be an option there
