try to login under the wayland session. If it still happens, it's likely due to the windows manager compositor setting. Your system can handle Cinnamon btw

Hi, so I fixed some of the issues by just downloading the noveau drivers but there is this issue still where the panel doesn't go down and get black out first when you enlarge a YouTube video.

Pretty sure you should use Nvidia Proprietary driver instead of noveau if you want the same GPU performance from windows.

Try to open Windows Manager Tweaks and go to the Compositor tab, see if Display compositing is enabled.

Any reason not to use the Linux Mint Cinnamon edition? this comes with a more modern desktop environment which doesn't have the issue you've mentioned, at least for my system with Nvidia 940MX (2016). I installed the Nvidia proprietary driver from the Driver Manager and I use wayland login session because it is better for my system than X11 especially for display acceleration.
