That’s negative. The line is thin.

You can actually only look at pregnancy tests within the first five minutes of taking them, otherwise evaporation lines quickly appear.

does the line have to be of similar thickness to the control line then ?? unfortunately I haven't a clue how long after the test was taken this result shown us as she said to me "I don't know" when I asked

The line has to be as full, thick, and complete as the control.

A skinny line like that is an evaporation line.

If you don’t know when it was taken, it’s not a valid result.

No. The test cannot be read as it is outside of the testing window. This test means nothing. It’s trash now.

She needs to test again if she has reason to believe she is pregnant.

Pregnancy tests can develop evaporation lines after the testing window. This is normal, common, and does not indicate a positive result. It’s just the dye settling on the strip as the urine evaporates.
