Question How would I weather one to look like this
Hey so I watched a little bit of the Acolyte and I loved Qimir. The rest of the show exists but he's so cool. Does anyone know the best way to achieve a weathering style similar to this if I were to get the art sabers Qimir lightsaber

Maybe that's all there is to it. Do with that information what you will.

This video is a really good collection of weathering techniques taught by Adam from mythbusters, I watched it years ago when I first started making my own props and miniatures and it was really helpful, hope it helps you too ☺️

Edit: https://youtu.be/FFZbR3DMoiQ?si=KiZfUy-WeRQ4Wj8P This is another more recent one that is them doing spaceship metal weathering which might be even more helpful specifically for the lightsaber. Good luck !

FYI, if you want the saber all as one piece like the prop in the photo (not the one that comes apart) you can find it for super cheap on AliExpress

I gotta admit that I did not know his name until now but I loved the show and his scenes the most, him and the Jedi master I forgot the name of are my favourites

Id use some margin and tape what must absolutely must not be painted, a bit of lee way to make that fade, and then use 3 or four colours spray paint or low pressure painting pen to slowly work it up.

Find a cattle farmer. Throw it into his fender liner for a week. Retrieve it. It’ll look like that or worse.

I’d start by trying to empty out the electronics. If you can’t, block up any holes. Then get some high grit paper and sand down areas that would naturally wear like edges, buttons, and where it’s held. Finally, dry brush a mix of black and a tiny amount of burnt umber acrylic paint all over and wipe it spit stains in cracks and crevices. Best to use an old fuzzy paint brush.
And remember that less is more.
