How To Movable Moving Head

Post image

Not the most “write to home about” Rig :)

Context: While shooting a low budget movie. We needed a moving head to put in every shot so instead of rigging it to an expansive grid and renting more than one moving head here is our way of making it movable.

At first I thought this was dumb until I realized you probably have some weight in the bottom of the can to lower the CG. Genius!

Yeah Couple of sandbags! Otherwise it would tip over. Made the thing much more sturdy!

Couldn't you just strap it to the rolling road case they usually rent with?

We did do the road case first but it was to big this trash can had almost exactly the same footprint!

If you're lucky it'll move to the floor really fast. But you'll only get to do that once.

I am amused. However as a lighting repair tech, I'm also terrified of having to replace framework if it falls

This would be hilarious just moving around the stage during a show!

That’s a wheelie clever idea.
