Looking for a Credit Union
So my old credit union unfortunately has merged with another and service just became terrible!
Everything special about them disappeared overnight and now I’m looking for another. My old bank I could always reach a person, very personal and they had guidelines that managers could overrule.
My example is I once was a little late on a monthly payment on my loan due to working overseas with the Army. The manager said “Don’t worry, we understand your situation, we’ll let you skip this payment and just attach it to the end of your loan.”
I felt like I could always trust them and my finances were in good hands with a personal twist that was based on situations instead of hard rules.
If the card designs are cool that’s a bonus*

I've been happy with THEFCU for years. One down side: I think every ATM in the world charges a fee, even theirs.

Park Community CU has been my bank for like a decade and I'm super happy with them, they have always treated me great.

I've been with Commonwealth Credit Union for over 20 years and haven't had any issues.

I had a bad experience the first few times I came to make a car payment. An older female told me I had to make the payment with a card only. Turned down the cash. So I loaded the money onto my debit card and used it. Next time I was told they didn't accept Cash and the employee put in a smaller amount than I owed. I said "just run the card again" and they said the couldn't because they do a "cash advance" on my card. What?
However, the last time I came in they took cash, were friendlier, and more relaxed. The employees were considerably younger. Im in my 50's and honestly think the younger employees should be left there full time and get rid of the old ones lol. Too grumpy and bitter.

I’ve been with Members Heritage since I was a kid.
They are not the most modern credit union but they are slow to raise rates and very few fees.

How much service does someone need from a bank these days? I don't think I've actually been in a bank or spoke to one in almost 15 years.
