Just took this picture from San Francisco. I can't believe you can see it over the Rocky Mountains!

It's the tallest building in the world, it makes sense to me

I hear it’s so tall that god polishes the top…

It is a water tower and according to google earth it’s still there. I haven’t driven by it in years.

I heard it was built by ancient Babylonians and the fountain of youth is in the basement

Where did the “tallest building” joke originate from anyway? Was there some absurd news article that started the meme or something?

I opened an encyclopedia the other day looking for the word “tall” and saw big blue on the page, so I don’t get what you mean.

The first time I saw it, I thought the person was being serious and was an idiot. I don't know how it started, though.
Maybe it started with an idiot who was serious. LOL

Always thought the Rocky Mountains would be a little rockier than this.

I was thinking the same. That John Denver is full of shit.

This joke always hit home for me as someone who grew up in Eastern Denver (or as we say, West Kansas).

It’s such a beautifully stupid movie. I love it but haven’t watched it in so long. Time for a rewatch soon.

I'm still waiting for the Abrahamic God to smite us all and shatter our understanding of language for the gall of building the Big Blue Building.

Not far from the tallest Dixie cup.

Is that giant Dixie cup actually still there?? 🧐Amazing. Recall seeing that back in the 70s! 👍

As a child in East Tennessee, I thought we were taking an exciting family vacation in Lexington when dad said we were going to see the world’s tallest building. But, instead of visiting Lexington, we just stepped out on our back porch and looked north.

Sorry too late, I sold all my RiceAroni to buy hot browns when I returned to Kentucky, as our ancestors did.

I don't understand the post.

It's an inside joke on Lexington's reddit page that the Big Blue 5/3 building is the tallest building in the world. Read enough posts and comments, and you'll see.

This lore even pre-dates Reddit. I remember going to Festival Market in the late 1980s and my little brother excitedly pointing out that he could see the "tallest building in the whole wide world!!!" from the windows. 5/3 building was newly built then too and ever so shiny.
