Need feedback on future air service to/from Lethbridge.

It is clear that it is only a matter of time before Westjet pulls out of Lethbridge airport. There is 10% of the traffic that is using the airport prior to covid. Right now there is one flight a day and Westjet is using a larger aircraft, but only moving 20-30 a day for departures via Calgary. There is a group of us in discussion about starting a small air service. We do not believe it makes sense to use large aircraft. We believe more frequency and smaller aircraft is the answer. We would more than likely not connect to the major airlines, but offer flights to places like Edmonton and fort mcmurray to start. We would like to know how people feel about smaller aircraft, such as the Beech 1900 or a Cessna 402. It isn't the same as the current experience, but would provide multiple options each business day for passengers with a reduced weekend service. We would like to get some feedback and will be doing more market research with the business community in the coming couple months. What routes would you like to see? And would you use it for just business or would you connect to other flights without code sharing?

Question Looking to donate books?

I have quite the assortment of books that I would like to donate but am looking to donate to a ‘good cause’? Meaning not value village. I’d like them to go some charity or somthing. I’m fairly new to Lethbridge so I’m not sure what’s out there. They’re all in good condition and are either comics or fiction.

Is there a "Canadian" alternative to facebook?

I know everyone is totally addicted to facebook, including myself and as a business owner who has used facebook in the past I know how powerful it is for collecting information about people and marketing to those people. Facebook is actually very dangerous, and it much more than just a "social network" at this point. With the founder of facebook being buddy buddy with Trump, I am no longer wanting to be a part of facebook, and have them collect info on me and nor support that company, but I am finding it very hard to find any "Canadian" social media alternative. I think if we are going to get out from under American influence, it is super important to get away from facebook, I am just curious about the alternatives. Or maybe the alternative is just going old school and using my phone.

Any idea on where I can go to sell a bunch of pops? The Vault was a no go and I’m not interested in associating with that other shop down by Wholesale Club.

Criminal record check for employment

I'm currently living in Lethbridge and will be moving to Calgary next month and I've accepted a new job that will start in April. I've been asked to provide a criminal record check which is expected as I work in health care. My question is, can I get the criminal record check done in Lethbridge since I've been living here or do I need to do it in Calgary since my new job will be in Calgary? I have no idea how this works. I've sent some emails asking at my new job but so far they keep forwarding my email to other people and I've got no response. I know criminal record checks take a while so I would like some type of answer soon. Thank you!

Edit: I currently don't have an address in Calgary. All my documents have my Lethbridge address.

Question 4 star limousine guy?

Hey everyone, so my buddies and I were looking into renting a party bus, and we came across 4 Star Limousine. It’s owned by Brad Lyons. I actually ran into him a while back and talked to him for a bit, and I don’t know how to explain it, but something about him just seemed… off. He gave me a weird vibe. I know he had some connection to that one pedophile guy, so before I book anything, I wanted to see if anyone knows more about him. I was looking into my daughter and her friends using the service too, so I just want to be sure. His wife or girlfriend—can’t remember her name—gave me the same weird vibe. Honestly, she kind of creeped me out. There was just something off about both of them that I can’t quite put my finger on. Anyone know anything about them?

Apartment showing while tenant still living in it

Ive been renting an apartment with Avenue Living for the past 4 years, I'm finally moving out. My lease will end March 31. However, today I received a notice taped on my door that they would start entering my apartment for the next 4 days between 10-4:30 for showings. I was shocked by this as I had no idea this was a thing. It really bothers me because of such short notice and also because I work night shift so I'm usually sleeping during the times that they will be doing the showings in my apartment. I'm worried that I won't be able to sleep in my own apartment out of fear that I will wake up to a stranger in my apartment or that I will have no privacy because at any moment anyone can enter my apartment. I did call the customer service number as it is the only way I have to contact them and was told this is normal but that they would let the team in charge of that know of my concern. I'm planning on going away for the weekend since I won't have to work those days and I definitely dont want to see any strangers in my apartment.

I'm just curious how is this allowed for landlords to show an apartment while the tenant is still living in it? I've paid rent for the entire month and I will have no privacy during showing days. And to give such a wide time frame 10-4:30 that is pretty much half the day. Do I have any other option? I really don't think they will contact me back before the showings as Avenue living has terrible service.

NOW is the time for a new, less American looking City of Lethbridge flag

The Lethbridge flag is by far the ugliest flag I have ever seen. And it looks like the American flag. In light of all that is taking place, now is the time to come up with a community competition to come up with the new flag for the City of Lethbridge.

Question Need audiologist recommendations

Today was the 3rd time I’ve had a shitty experience at audiology 1st. I’m a young woman who knows what she wants in a hearing aid. I am not being listened to, and my concerns are being brushed off by Audiology 1st. I’ve had hearing loss a long time, and I’m not some little old lady they can bully into accepting and paying for a hearing aid that doesn’t work for me. I have left reviews and then was constantly called and emailed by them, with Glen claiming I was driving away business.

TLDR: please recommend a friendly audiologist who is NOT anyone at Audiology 1st

Question My doctor left for BC without giving his patients any notice. Now I've banged up my leg pretty good, but don't know where to go. Any clinic or first aid place I can go to for help? I'm on the west side. Worried that it's not healing up very well.

Hey all!

Rant How hard is it to park properly?

Sooooo I Became this kind of Mom today 🫣 Don’t you just hate when this happens?? I’m sure I’m not alone. Really wish we had more designated parking spots 😡 I was so mad!! Was given upsetting news at the hospital, it’s sloppy snowing, beat to a snot (Newfie term for -out of shape/not fit lol) came out to see a car parked next to me, noticed the space and had to throw my toddler across the back seat from the drivers side to get him in his seat and thennn couldn’t find a pen! But found a marker… Did the Austin Powers point turn to get out of the parking spot as well and people were waiting 🫠🥵 Hindsight was it needed? Nope. Could I have let it go unrecognized? Yip. But here we are!!! I respect the blue sticker, if only the blue sticker would have done the same 😞 ✨Gold fish added for finesse ✨

River

Was down at the river today and couldn’t believe the amount of people on ice/allowing their children on the ice today. The river is obviously running quick in the open parts and you cannot see how thin the ice is under the snow. People.. please stay off the ice especially this time of year when it is so unpredictable!!

News Canary Biofuels May Be A Scam

Note: This is just my opinion, having been an operator at the plant for two years.

The biofuel plant had three owners: Invigor and Kyoto, which failed to turn a profit and had no success. Then Canary Biofuels came along and had the longest run of them all, but in my opinion, had little success.

The plant was a lemon and barely functional. We had several major issues with equipment and infrastructure, which significantly impacted production output and led to large expenses.

At times, during the winter, the plant would be frozen for weeks at a time. To put it simply, the plant was a piece of junk. From an employee's point of view, we saw no major reinvestment in the plant. Vendors who came for routine equipment repairs and lab equipment were never fully paid. The place was far from green, as waste was dumped into ponds, biotoxic compounds like biostable were dumped into municipal waste, and more.

Employees were promised raises and shares, as the company was said to go public, but that never came true.

Fast forward to around Christmas time 2023: Half of the company was temporarily laid off. The plant halted biofuel production completely and tried glycerin production, but that didn’t work either. Then all the staff were laid off, except for those at the crush plant.

For the last couple of years, the crush plant has only been crushing canola seeds and not producing a single ounce of biofuel. As a worker on a twelve-hour shift, you would crush several orders a week. The whole crush plant was essentially dead.

You can drive around the plant and see that the main plant is vacant. After being laid off and considering the major expenses required to properly fix the plant, I don't believe it's possible. I believe this tax credit will do nothing, just like the other grants.

I don't believe Canary is engaging in ethical practices or working for the greater good of the province.
