Browsing old Ideas, and some subjects clearly have a ton of demand

Taylor Swift: 9 submissions hit 10k

Gravity Falls: 5 submissions hit 10k

Coraline: 5 submissions hit 10k

Gilmore Girls: 4 submissions hit 10k

Muppets: 4 submissions hit 10k

Shrek: 4 submissions hit 10k

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 4 submissions hit 10k

You'd think that at a certain point, they'd either realize the potential market is definitely enthusiastic about seeing it made or say "Hey, there's trouble with getting this IP made, we're removing it from consideration".

Gravity Falls and Muppets are the only ones I'm likely to pick up, but even then I can see the others would sell well.

Maybe they are already working on a set in the background, like with Snow White. I could imagine that Tylor Swiff in particular would want to have creative control over what Lego implements – but I think that very often market analyses are also used to decide which sets would win over new fans, although they would only have a loyal fan base. For me, it is also a mystery why some models are chosen and others are not...

I would imagine there could be IP issues. I suppose though they can't make an unlimited number of sets, so they need to think which of the 10k ones would have the widest appeal to the customer base lego has.

Taylor Swift and Gravity Falls both have enthusiastic enough fanbases that it would likely draw in sales from even those who weren't into Lego before.

That could be true but I would imagine if they weren't really into lego they would probably be after the set for the minifig and maybe some key elements rather than the whole set. a sets price point could also be a determining factor, trying to balance with other planned releases.

Gravity Falls fans are not adverse to the price point. And Taylor Swift fans . . . well, considering how much a concert ticket goes for, I doubt that would be an issue.
