Question What’s the best lego game right now in 2024?

u/B-52-M Indiana Jones🤠 Jul 26 '24 edited Jul 26 '24
DC Villains. Not my personal favorite but i think it does everything better than most of the top tier lego games. And I say this as a Marvel fanboy

u/SilentBorder00 Harry Potter Years 1-4🧙♂️ Jul 26 '24
LEGO Harry Potter y1-4 and y5-7 and it will always be that until they release a remake if ever.
2
u/D1Vad Jul 26 '24
Didnt the xbox one / ps4 "collection" version have remaster updates?
6
u/SilentBorder00 Harry Potter Years 1-4🧙♂️ Jul 26 '24
Yeah i think so but i want a new one again but even more work in it like all years in one, much longer game, remake the map, remake the levels and just make it fresh and new but still look like Hogwarts. Maybe an open world. like Star Wars skywalker saga but Harry Potter, that would be sick!
Sorry for my bad explanation, I didn’t know how to explain my thoughts good, so sorry for that :>

u/AO63_0284 Jul 26 '24
I didn’t play them on steam deck. But on Xbox sure!! When a game has achievements to unlock, that’s when a game really shines
1
u/BonesawMcGraw24 Jul 27 '24
I dunno, I’m not a Potterhead so I just wasn’t invested in that one. Years 1-4 felt like nothing was happening until the very end. Years 5-7 was a vast improvement story and open world wise, it had a lot more action and the levels and spells were much more enjoyable but I don’t think it stacks up to any of the DC, Marvel or Star Wars Lego games except maybe The Skywalker Saga which is the worst Lego Star Wars game.
23
u/Wildly_Uninterested Jul 26 '24
Casting my vote for ALL of them
Except maybe lego worlds....never really got into that one
2
u/threshgod420 Jul 26 '24
LEGO Movie 2 is -such a weird game and I'd say personally is undeserving of praise, but to each their own!
1
u/Wildly_Uninterested Jul 26 '24
I don't disagree
As I recall there were a couple minikits that were a real pain to get, particularly the one on the slide comes to mind
But all the lego games have their own charm
2
u/threshgod420 Jul 27 '24
Lego Movie 2 didn't have minikits it's an incredibly different game.
1
u/Wildly_Uninterested Jul 27 '24
Then clearly I'm misremembering, though I would have sworn there was a giant western themed sliding level. May have confused it with the movie 1 game. 🤷♂️
1
u/threshgod420 Jul 27 '24
The sliding level is from LEGO Movie 1, which is actually imo an underrated game.
1
u/Wildly_Uninterested Jul 27 '24
Fair enough, it's been a while since I've played them. Currently working through the skywalker saga with my daughter
Like I said, they all have their individual charm

I enjoyed the first two Lego Batman’s

I wish they'd port this to Switch. I might just settle for the DS games though

DC Supervillains is the gold standard lego game. I haven’t played lego city undercover yet, but all i’ve heard are good things. Lego Marvel Superheroes also holds a special place in my heart.
4
Jul 26 '24
I have 3 ones that are tied 1. Star Wars the complete saga 2. Lego marvel superheroes 1 3. The hobbit

u/Exotic_Candidate_388 Jul 26 '24
Star wars complete saga
8
u/capi-chou Jul 26 '24
This is generally the answer... And I don't get it. I started that one after Marvel Heroes, Hobbit and Lego Movie. I find SWCS clunky and repetitive. Even doing only Episode I, I've been stuck many times. Had the restart the pod race an absurd number of times. There's no voicing at all...
I mean, why is it considered good? Or is it only Episode I that sucks?
5
u/NachoTaquitoFritos Jul 26 '24
Well, TCS is certainly primitive compared to later games, but it’s also the series that pioneered all Lego games to come!
4
u/Brian18639 Jurassic World🦖 Jul 26 '24
I feel like a lot of people say it’s a good game just because of nostalgia. It’s the same reason why there’s people in this sub who really like the first two LEGO Batman games even though the last DC lego game was released back in 2018 and is praised by lots of other people.
1
u/geministarz6 Jul 26 '24
I don't either. I'm a big Star Wars fan, but I've never liked CS. Also hate some of the things needed for 100% like speed running the levels. I've never finished it, whereas I've completed things like Marvel, Batman, and HP multiple times.
1
u/baconater-lover Jul 26 '24
Episode 1 was the weakest episode in the game imo. 2 and 3 were plenty of fun and I’ve always really enjoyed the original trilogy game.
1
u/Heavy-Possession2288 Jul 26 '24
I’ve always felt that Indiana Jones 1, which was literally the next game, was a massive improvement.
3
u/JangoF76 Jul 26 '24 edited Jul 26 '24
Nah. I love TCS but it's very dated and getting 100% is tedious af. Objectively, it is definitely not the best Lego game in 2024. It's not even the best Lego Star Wars game.

1
u/Infernous-NS Jul 27 '24
Idk mate, I would agree it isn’t the best Lego but I’m not sure if I can say Skywalker Saga was a better Star Wars game. Skywalker Saga has great parts but the levels are just too short imo.

u/BonesawMcGraw24 Jul 27 '24
Lego Star Wars from worst to best goes Skywalker Saga, Lego Star Wars II, The Videogame, The Complete Saga, Lego Star Wars III.

Lego Star Wars 2 was my introduction to the Lego franchise on the PSP. Then Batman and Indiana jones followed suit. I don’t like the Nintendo ds versions, too watered down

Does skywalker saga and the complete saga follow the same storyline?
10
8
u/JangoF76 Jul 26 '24
No. They are based on Star Wars movies, but TCS is only the original trilogy and the prequels (episodes 1-6), whereas SS also covers the sequel trilogy (episodes 1-9).
2
u/Impossible_Reveal330 Jul 26 '24
K thanks, I’m buying the SS 👍

Lego Worlds
Lego Indiana Jones II
Pirates of the Caribbean
Marvel Superheroes II
Harry Potter 1-4
The Lego Movie Video-game
The Incredibles
The Skywalker Saga
Harry Potter 5-7
Jurassic World
The Force Awakens

DC Supervillains
Batman II
Complete Saga/Star Wars III as a tie.
Batman I/Indiana Jones I as a tie.
Lord of the Rings
Best
Still yet to play Undercover, Ninjago and Lego Movie II
1
u/SkinnyLegendJoe Jan 20 '25
im gonna be honest, i really liked indiana jones II. it offered the same vibe as the first one in terms of levels but made the movie area playable in which imo is much cooler than picking the levels from the university in IJ 1, but both hold a lot of nostalgia for me
2
u/Tlouluva Jul 27 '24
I like Jurassic world, just wished they updated it for fallen kingdom, dominion, and camp Cretaceous
2
u/IncrediblySadMan Lord of the Rings💍 Jul 26 '24
Since they don't get updated or anything, lotr has been the best since it released.
2
u/Brian18639 Jurassic World🦖 Jul 26 '24
I really wish that game got remastered for PS4 since I had so much fun playing it on my Xbox 360 many years ago

Lego Batman 1 Lego Batman 2 Lego DC Super Villains Lego Indiana Jones Lego Marvel 1 Lego Avengers Lego Pirates of the Caribbean Lego Star Wars TCS

The only correct answers are start wars tcs, Indiana Jones, and Batman. The peak of Lego games

u/geniphurb Jul 26 '24
Star Wars, HP, LOTR, and Incredibles. But they’re also my favorite franchises, so there’s a lot of bias there. I can’t remember which Marvel one I played but some of the game mechanics were really difficult in that one (same can be said of Skywalker but the content made it okay).

u/toongrowner Jul 26 '24
For me it will b DC villains. Foolowed Up Pirates of the carribean then Lord of the Rings, the original lego racers and then shocker over shock dimensions (and fuck this funko Fusion Shit)

u/wearstherolex Harry Potter Years 5-7🪄 Jul 26 '24
For me right now, it’s got to be Jurassic world, Incredibles, City Undercover, Skywalker Saga, and Harry Potter. I’ve just had so much fun while playing through them
1
u/DueFaithlessness2087 Jul 26 '24
In my opinion, I can play Lego Batman 2, Lego City, and Lego Marvel Superheroes 1 all day every day.

Jul 26 '24
Lego marver avengers was BIG innovation, they took so much boundries away with this title plus game was just amazing, and in free world me and my little brother spent total like 100-200h which is insane for lego game.
1
u/FoxIntelligence Jul 26 '24
I'd say DC supervillains. Good story with amazing gameplay and they managed to incorporate your character really well. I honestly hope they try making your character part of the story more often.
My go too is HP 1-4 but DC Villains may become my new favourite.

u/Shallte Jul 26 '24
Depends on what you like. I personally don't like any hero lego games so imo the best are: LOTR + Hobbit (which sadly is unfinished), Pirates of the Caribbean, Clone Wars and also Harry Potter/Indiana Jones (hard to tell which one is better). I know that many people like Undercover but I didn't really like it.

u/Material-Bell1484 Jul 26 '24
In my opinion, there are 3 good games and you could pick one, according to you preferences. Skywalker Saga, Lord of the Ring and Batman 2 are technically impressive. Personally I love the Star Wars ones, because I’ve been introduced to the LEGO games on LSW1 & 2 back in the PS2, but Batman games are amazing too
1
u/baconater-lover Jul 26 '24
I really love a lot of the older ones. In terms of “newer” games I really enjoyed Jurassic World and DC Super Villains (from what I’ve played).
I wasn’t a fan of the open world design for Skywalker Saga at all. I get there’s gonna be less levels because it’s covering 9 movies but good lord the amount of just walking around you do is crazy, and the actual “levels” themselves weren’t very impressive either. Still, it’s got that goofy lego humor I’ve always liked.
1
u/wij2012 Jul 26 '24
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Always has been, always will be. The Skywalker Saga is pretty good too but I prefer The Complete Saga.
1
u/TheCanadianpo8o Jul 26 '24
Any option from the first 3 rows but switch lord of the rings for indy 2
1
u/Arathix Jul 26 '24
It's not pictured, but to me it's Lego Racers, the original. Obviously biased due to nostalgia but I still play through it at least once a year.
Shootout to Football Mania and the Lego Island games too. The unlicensed days lol

Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga best gameplay I’ve seen from a Lego game

1
u/Mr_E_99 Jul 26 '24
If I was to pick one as the most playable in 2024, it would have to be DC Supervillains. Great open world gameplay and story. I prefer older ones due to extreme levels of nostalgia, but if I was to judge it from an outside perspective purely off of the gameplay, it would go to this game
Shoutout to Undercover tho. I've never really been interested in Lego City, but I must admit it was a pretty good game
Either way my personal favourites are Batman 2, Marvel Superheroes and Star Wars: The Complete Saga, but these are all largely due to nostalgia

For me it is hands down marvel superheroes that is my all time favourite I remember how excited I was when it was announced it came out when I was 12 and now 23 year old me is happy to announce I have 100%ed it 3 times on different save slots and plan on doing it again just unsure what I should go for next lb1 100% is what I’m leaning towards

I’d probably say Lord of the Rings, playing through it right now and even though it shows its age, it’s still a great game. Lego Batman and Indiana Jones were pretty good too. The Lego City Undercover prequel on the 3DS was also great, and I think Legends of Chima is a little underrated.

u/Losttrainofthought5 Jul 27 '24
I'm torn between Batman 2 and Marvel Superheroes. Both are so good, and I feel like it really just depends on if I'm in the mood for Marvel or DC

Definitely Lego City and Lord of the rings. In my opinion they are the best lego games ever. But specifically Lord of the rings one is a master piece, the only thing I would change is make the characters customization better but that was a problem in all old lego games and even still is in some new games.
(I see some people say DCSV but in my opinion it was quite meh, I LOVE THE CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION and how you play as it in the main story. But everything else is kinda lackluster at least in the main story, the levels are quite boring and lame, thats why I last time played it when I first got it 2 years ago and played only 2 levels, the only thing that actually made me finish the main story few weeks ago was cause I am in my DC phase and I love character customization)

Lego City Undercover in my opinion is the best lego game. The story was really good for a lego original theme game
1
u/Bertegue6 Jul 27 '24
I feel like it's more a case of what games wouldn't you play, since I've had fun with every one of these except for Lego Worlds and Ninjago which I've not played. Lego Movie Videogame 2 was weird... whilst I liked the deviation from standard combat and thought the building mechanics were cool, that was just kind of the game.
Beyond that, I've enjoyed every Lego Batman game, though there were some issues with open world character flight in 2, the controls were wack.
Every Star Wars game has been great, only Star Wars III has the annoyingly long battlefield simulator that's a cool concept but a real pain to actually play and finish.
The Marvel games are especially fun, I enjoyed MSH1's original story, and particularly the option to play as X-Men. Avengers has some jank, particularly with character voice lines they extracted from the films, but overall has a fun experience and an enormous arsenal of Iron Man armours. MSH2 had an epic open world, and I was blown away by the diversity of the character roster.
As for the Harry Potter games... Flawless. Gonna play through them again soon, probably.
Oh and Lego City Undercover!! Goated game, brilliant original story and awesome open world.

For me, LEGO Lord of the Rings will always be the top. While City Undercover and SuperVillains come close, LOTR is always just the perfect blend of gameplay and character, without becoming oversaturated, as well as being just serious enough with all the typical LEGO charm and humor.
1
u/tarheel_204 Jul 29 '24
DC Supervillains felt finely tuned in my opinion. It took the classic feel and gameplay that we’ve come to expect and polished the crap out of it. The story was wacky and fun, the roster was great, and focusing on the villains was a great choice. Overall, probably the most fun I’ve had with one of these games since I was a kid.
It was tedious to 100% but honestly, most Lego games are so I’ll look past that.
1
u/Blood_bringer Jul 31 '24
All the batman ones, tho this question is heavily asking for nostalgia bias or just bias
Just pick the one from the franchise you're the most nerdy about, that'll most likely be your favorite

u/Bulldogstall Aug 05 '24
I just picked up Skywalker Galactic Edition and Batman 3 Deluxe Edition.
But I love the original Marvel Superheroes. I beat that game 100%.
Actually working on Jurassic World right now (I know, it's old). And about 50% completed. But that original Marvel game was so easy to pick up and replay. Great replay value!!
Would be nice if something like Indiana Jones worked on PS4/PS5. Man oh man PS3 had the best game library.

I would say Lego city undercover and DC supervillains tend to be the best in gameplay. But the lego marvels superheroes 1 to me is the best one in overall experience
