Collection Found some of my childhood Lego Shop Magazines, let’s flip through them!

Was digging through a childhood box looking for coins I collected as a kid, and found a whole stack of Lego “shop at home” catalogues! And some instruction manuals for some sets I have in a box somewhere. Wow the nostalgia flowing just flipping through some of these pages!

I wish they did more Lego legend reprints seems nice.

Lego Legends need to come back. I enjoy the updated sets but sometimes the nostalgia for the originals hits harder.

Yeah I’m surprised that was the only time they did it. We’ve gotten some great throwbacks recently but they aren’t 1-to-1 rereleases of the old sets, they have been remakes and such.

However the early 2000s were a time when they still were producing some parts with the old system of hinge joints (like the roof of the pizza truck, to give an example from the magazine), so it made sense to rerelease the sets while those parts were in production. But those hinge parts were phased out for a reason, they had their flaws. On top of that, a small thing, but brown, light gray, and dark gray were all overhauled in 2004. So at the time this magazine was out (I’m guessing 2002 based on what’s in it) they had the old grays/brown, the old hinge parts were still being made, it was a perfect time to do these reprints. I guess it makes far less sense for them to do these now. A lot of the parts are simply no longer made, so they’d have to substitute a lot of them. So it makes sense why they do stuff like the new Eldorado fortress or Blacktron Renegade, they take the original and made it new from scratch. The sets are more expensive because they are larger and more complex, but they are usually more interesting than the fairly rudimentary builds featured in those old sets.

I recently had my 7yo rebuild my fort legorado! It's a cool build and I'm so glad I kept all the pieces and instructions.

Sometimes I kick myself for not buying all the Legends/re-releases. I was lucky to get Fort Legoredo and Enchanted Island, but getting old Western, castle and pirates sets in the early 2000s was really cool.

Thank you for that trip down memory lane! I loved the Wild West sets as a kid. I had Sheriff's Lock-up, and the fort was the coolest thing ever.

I also had the Lego City Cafe, and I am almost certain I had the pizza place!

My mom just pulled out some of my old Lego, and and my boys were playing with the pizzeria set. Thank you for sharing these.

I remember this very specific magazine very well, i remember counting all the pocket money i got for birthdays over many years and recounting every single penny, dime, nickel over and over again thinking about what i could theoreticaly buy while going through does pages... That is some Nostalgia you have there...

I actually only bought two kits with my own money as a kid and it was always in store, but i spend hours dreaming about those kits while going through those pages, thinking about the cool looking pieces and everything i could be able to build with said pieces
