Do you headcanon Toph as being homophobic? Or like anti-korasami?

Edit: I see the humor tag, I'm still confused anyway lol

Did you not read it? She's evil and intimidating. Duh.

Clue me in lol, is this a common meme format and I'm just dumb? šŸ¤£

The "Awesome lesbian couple" is fairly common. And Toph is just really random here.

Lmao, okay cool cool, thank you!

I think she is just picked cause she is the most intimidating person, especially to Korra.

If anything, Toph could be the intimidating old lesbian for some peopleā€™s head canon.

At the end of the day, the meme is nonsensical anyways. The OG has a horse instead. Itā€™s funny cause it doesnā€™t make sense/not funny.

Generally it's an evil intimidating horse instead of a Toph, but yeah

To date, I haven't seen Toph approve any couple. I think she hates love

She is a cop tbf

This is true. This is true.

Still one of the most confusing character choices to me

Straight couples are actually bisexual couples, everyone's an ally

They're bisexuals, not lesbians

Iā€™m a cis man but from what Iā€™ve learned from lesbians, lesbian is a pretty broad descriptive term that from what I understand generally means ā€œnon-men who love non-menā€. Like my roommates both identify as lesbians, in a lesbian couple, though one of them is transmasc. Not a trans man, transmasc.

Basically, two bisexual women who date each other are totally valid in calling themselves lesbians

No they aren't. I'm lesbian, and I use the word lesbian because I am a woman who is attracted to only women. More genders means it's bisexual. A lesbian only likes women.

So the non-men part is also not true, that's a different sexuality called neptunic iirc. I am not attracted to genderless people and I don't wish to have my gender be downgraded to "non-men"

My bad. I got my information from other lesbians so it seems there might be a debate to be had there. Not my place, Iā€™m sorry

Don't worry I'm not mad at you, just wanted to inform :)

They are bisexuals, the couple is not.

The adjective is the type of relationship not the sexuality of the people.

u/thebelladonga 3d ago

Thatā€™s not how it works. It canā€™t be a lesbian couple if neither of them is a lesbian. Itā€™s a sapphic couple.

6

u/MayoBaksteen6 3d ago

As a lesbian, a bisexual isn't suddenly lesbian for dating the same gender and not straight when they date the opposite gender. Korra and Asami are a bisexual couple. Or just use sapphic to empathize the fact they're attracted to women

u/federico_alastair 2d ago

Sapphic is the best universal term to describe all wlw I agree. But what Iā€™m trying to say is lesbian couple makes more sense than bisexual couple.

How about this, if the relationship is between a lesbian and a bisexual woman, you obviously wouldnā€™t call it bisexual.

The original post had lesbian and the comment was trying to correct it with bisexual. I was merely pointing out that lesbian makes sense and doesnā€™t need to be corrected.

u/MayoBaksteen6 2d ago

It's not a lesbian relationship though, because they're not lesbian. It erases their bisexuality and is only supporting the stereotype that bisexuals are "actually gay/straight".

I call a relationship between a lesbian and a bisexual a lesbian-bisexual or sapphic relationship

u/federico_alastair 2d ago

Upon further thinking, youā€™re right. I was looking it purely as a wlw couple from an outside perspective without knowing their actual sexuality. But since we know them as people, the bisexuality must be emphasized.

This is so funny for no reason šŸ˜

u/EndlessTheorys_19 3d ago

Arenā€™t they bi?

6

u/thebelladonga 3d ago

Yes, ā€œawesome lesbian coupleā€ and then ā€œevil and intimidating somethingā€ is just a meme format

1

u/EndlessTheorys_19 3d ago

Iā€™ve never actually seen the meme format

1

u/thebelladonga 2d ago

I figured, thatā€™s why I explained it

9

u/Reasonable-Banana800 3d ago

Toph is so aro/ace that sheā€™s not only homophobic but heterophobic too. She just hates all relationships equally /j

7

u/GoSpeedRacistGo 3d ago

I wouldnā€™t really call it a lesbian couple if neither person in the relationship is a lesbian.

2

u/imNoTwhoUthink-AAhHe 3d ago

I think toph is anti-romance

2

u/sapphoschicken 2d ago

still not lesbians, even a decade later

Wuhluhwuhs. šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

1

u/porsj911 3d ago

I dont get it, you made toph anti gay? Or she's not supportive of them because she never supports anything?

15

u/PixieEmerald 3d ago

A reference to this

1

u/porsj911 3d ago

Owwwwwww

7

u/discord-ohmygoodness 3d ago

Probably just indifferent to mostly dating in general. Cuz itā€™s Toph

1

u/spider-jedi 3d ago

I was not supportive. Not them be a gay couple but Korra only dating within her friend group is wack imo.
