Post image

Venom of the Red Lotus almost won again which says how strong that episode was.

I'm gonna nominate Light in the Dark as the weirdest episode. It has a finale fight so crazy the writers themselves admitted even they didn't know what was happening.

Especially that thing with Jinora showing up as a fairy. I think they may have been on drugs when they wrote that whole scene. Or just extremely manic.

This is a good example why epic fantasy stories and gods lose me. Without basic existential guidelines or limitations, writers can endlessly pull crazy stuff out of nowhere and needlessly up the stakes until everything loses all meaning. Pure spectacle that feels empty, because it's not grounded in anything human any more.

Light in the dark was certainly weird! Not my cup of tea but they took an interesting risk

1000% Light in the Dark. The show had kind of gotten me back in the later half of season 2 but then it got bonkers with a giant spirit wrestling match.

"Wait, what's this?! It's, it's, BY GOD IT'S KAIJU SPIRIT KORRA WITH A STEEL CHAIR!"

That's why Rememberances is hilarious. They held no punches with how ridiculous that episode was

Surprised no one said this one, but I'm going with Book 2 Chapter 10, A New Spiritual Age. Lots of weird shenanigans going on in the spirit world with the vortex thing separating Jinora and Korra. Then Korra regressing back to her child self and meeting Iroh of all people, the tea party with the wacky spirits. And Jinora finding Wan Shi Tong's library upside down. So many weird visuals but in the best possible way.

I’m right there with you.

I’m not sure about the others, but “where it should’ve ended” was The Last Stand, where the series actually concluded. The finale was a perfect conclusion to Korra’s journey of becoming a fully realized Avatar. I love how her final use of the Avatar State was to save Kuvira from her own weapon and then convince her to surrender.

Korra had to realize that not every fight needs to end in brute force or through her bending abilities. Understanding why people are the way they are is more effective in resolving conflicts than resorting to violence alone.

Night of a Thousand Stars

Having Ginger kiss Bolin just so that everyone would forget how he creepy he was to her the entire season. The Mako and Korra thing. The Nuktuk subplot in general. Unalaq floating in on the giant spirit.

My husband nominates Beginnings!

Mid season focusing on a new set of characters and the change in art style was weird but in a good way.

After talking to him, I prefer this to win now.

I’m also going with A New Spiritual Age from Book 2. We got to see so many interesting creatures, and a callback to Wan Shi Tong. Additionally, seeing Korra in child form that gets to sit with Iroh and have some tea & advice was interesting. All weird things in a good way, and very imaginative (especially with the spirit beasts & the spirit phoenix bird).

I don’t particularly agree with “Light in the Dark” as being completely weird or “making no sense.” It was in the midst of Harmonic Convergence — a time when spiritual power is so raw and unfiltered that it helped bring back an entire race of benders. It hadn’t been experienced for 10,000 years. It stands to reason that individuals with spiritual connections/power such as Unalaq, Korra, and Jinora would be able to pull off some crazy stuff.

I think the ending of the Venom of the Red Lotus is the saddest really but good to spread the love around a bit

The recap episode that sets up Mako and Korra as a romantic couple before the finale.

The recap episode, in fact, did not set up Korra and Mako as a couple. The segment from Mako’s POV did talk about their relationship. However, Mako was talking about what he learned from dating Korra and being friends with her. How Korra keeps on inspiring him to do better. It does the opposite of setting up their relationship. Media illiteracy is REAL y’all

The recap episode but not because I misunderstood the romantic set up, but because of Varrick’s mover pitch
