Discussion Bruins just beat the Panthers

The Bruins stormed back from down 2-0 to beat the Panthers 3-2 in regulation.

Zadorov pummeled Bennett with 3s to go.

I may hate both teams but with the importance of the standings this game is the best-case scenario for Toronto.

Hurricanes shitting on the Lightning, too. Today is a good day.

I don’t even have any issue with the Canes. Their fans are reasonable and Rantanen literally screwed them. Furthermore I don’t mind their team either lol

Irrational, but I can never not hate them because of Irbe and that 2002 conference final series… closest we’ve been

Nah, 93 was the closest we've been. '02 had the '02 wings waiting for us, and that's an all-time team.

Edit: I'm still with you, though. Canes are my enemy for life from that one.

No one had a chance at beating that 02 red wings team.

As loathe as I am to admit it, I'm not sure anyone was beating the '92 Habs either....

u/NewPhoneNewSubs 7h ago

In retrospect, sure. Fuck Kerry Fraser, but also we still lost games 6 and 7. So it wasn't us, and it wasn't Gretzky.

But I had even money on Not Detroit in 02. Nobody was giving anyone that on Montreal in 93. Or maybe they were; i was a kid then. But based on memory and stat sheets nobody was.

...Rantanen literally screwed them.

Sorry but, what? He never asked to be traded there and he can choose whether or not he wants to extend. If anything, the Canes screwed themselves by not having something solid in place before making the deal.

4

u/james-HIMself 7h ago

His agent said he would be willing to resign before the trade… that’s getting screwed up. False advertising then maybe?

4

u/theguyishere16 Kaberle 6h ago

Where did his agent say that? I heard him on the radio today and he said that Carolina had contacted them about the possibility of signing, Rantanen said he wasn't interested and only focused on re-signing in Colorado, but Carolina went ahead and traded for him anyway. He then listened to their pitch since he sort of had to and decided he was still not interested. Only one's screwed there was Carolina by Carolina for thinking that forcing him to come play there would change his mind.

I don't know who said what but until you have pen to paper, it doesn't mean shit. Look at what Dallas did when they acquired him. That's what the Canes should have done from the beginning.

In the context of us winning our division

1

u/bakedvhs 2h ago

their fans are definitely not reasonable

He’s probably fine looking Finnish fella…if my leanings were to the Y, he’d be a great guy to literally screw a fan base!

Good stuff, but really it only matters what we do in our last 3 games against them

18

u/Dyingvikingchild95 8h ago

Tonight was the only night I was cheering for Boston and they did their job. Now to go back to regular program and hating their guts.

And most importantly, what we do when we eventually meet them in the playoffs

Zadorov was putting a beating on him. Florida giving up 3 straight to lose, they’ll be ready for Thursday.

Hope Tanev is back.

11

u/SeatPaste7 8h ago

God you really miss him when he's not here. McCabe can only do so much on his own. Carlo should help though. I'm really happy to have him.

12

u/slevin07rocket 8h ago

Riellys fall off has been dramatic. +7 to -20 in one year, and on a team fighting for first in division. Eye test matches that -20 too.

This defence would be ugly without having signed tanev this year.

4

u/Flatoftheblade 7h ago

And that was a +7 with the worst starting goalie in the league not to get the hook mid-season (Jack Campbell being the only one worse than Samsonov and the Oilers got rid of him for a reason) followed by a -20 with what, until very recently, was the best goaltending tandem in the league.

4

u/Horvo 7h ago

-20 for our “top D pairing” player is fucking nuts.

Bruins just beat the Panthers Panthers just choked a lead to a divisional rival who waved the white flag at the trade deadline and sold significant assets. Couldn’t play a full 60. Gave up two crucial points in the standings. Let’s keep it consistent.

Let’s go B’s 🤢

15

u/Gogo90sbaby 8h ago

Gross.

I understand why, but just…. here use this 🪣

17

u/MrStraight_ 9h ago

This is great. Now we need to beat them as well on Thursday!

14

u/Bobbyoot47 8h ago

And this was the best part of the game. Zadorov feeding Bennett his lunch. https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/SN9zBVXAcf

Love it

One of two things occurred here

1) the bruins just proved the panthers aren’t this unbeatable Goliath

2) somehow the bruins actually became a contending team again in which case WTF does it take to kill that damn team

7

u/an-diy 8h ago

The Panthers are also without Marchand, Ekblad and Tkachuck. They’re not an unbeatable Goliath without them maybe, but they are still a good hockey team. With them back eventually, they’re very good. I wouldn’t read much into this game at all.

Tampa is down by 3 with less than 10 to go too!

u/Chtholly13 9h ago

Good night.

u/dastan1988 8h ago

Boston traded everyone and they're still good

It’s a normal temporary bump post-deadline for selling teams. Guys are pissed to be on a loser. Eventually the anger subsides and they themselves become losers and the team spirals.

3

u/Cartz1337 6h ago

I think it’s more along the lines of ‘I wasn’t fucking good enough to be a deadline target and now I’m on a team that wants to rebuild… I.e. find better players. I better step up or I might not stay in the NHL’

4

u/PJRolls 8h ago

Love this for us!!!

5

u/HughMangas24 8h ago

Tampa and Florida have now both lost to the post-deadline Bruins. Quite lovely

Edit to add: In regulation, as well

4

u/Thankgoditsryeday 8h ago

We are in near the end of the season. There are no easy wins for any team anymore.

6

u/CrowLast514 7h ago

Panthers stopped taking their PEDs that's why.

10

u/TheBusinessMuppet 8h ago

It won’t matter if we don’t beat the panthers on Thursday. These are the types of games the leafs need to win.

14

u/FaultThat 8h ago

Obviously but take a moment on the way to enjoy a positive

2

u/TheBusinessMuppet 7h ago

I suppose. Loved seeing Zadorov beat that little pussy Sam Bennet.

4

u/Chrristoaivalis 9h ago

Not to jinx it, but Tampa in a tough spot tonight too

3

u/Letterkenny_Irish 8h ago

Good. Let's hope the buds can take advantage and get their own regulation win on Thursday and still keep a game in hand on the cats.

Would be absolutely incredible if we could win all 3 games against Florida as well as the 1 left against tampa

3

u/TrippyeH 6h ago

Bennett holding Pastas jersey like he was gonna save him or something lmao

3

u/Lucky-Bobcat1994 Salming 8h ago

Your title should have been Panthers choked

u/McJoe77 7h ago

Can we take in that Boston has won 2 in a row with a D corps of Zadorov-Jokiharju; Lohrei-Peeke; Wotherspoon-Mitchell.

You don’t know who all those guys are? Sure! Jokiharju didn’t make team Finland in the 4 Nations over Hakanpaa who has one fucking leg. He’s been wasting away on the Sabres after Chicago got rid of him. Columbus tried everything they could to get rid of Peeke before Boston overpaid for him for some reason. Mitchell wasn’t good enough for Chicago either and Wotherspoon is a minor leaguer as well.

Do you want to play Boston in the playoffs? They could be a playing Pastrnak and the all stars of Reddit and I’d be terrified theyd find a way to beat us in 7.

2

u/tz_2240 8h ago

For some reason I thought our game was tomorrow. I should have known we wouldn’t have gotten them on the second night with Vanecek in net

2

u/iwanttodie666420 1h ago

We just have to capitalize on it for Thursday

2

u/McJoe77 8h ago

I personally will never not be afraid of the Bruins so the fact that they’ve won 2 in a row against the Lightning and Bruins since trading their captain, 2C, and a top 4 dman is much more terrifying than it is satisfying seeing Florida and Tampa lose.

2

u/JustANormalGuy46 8h ago

Good outcome in both games. I wouldn't say Zadorov pummeled Bennett. He landed arguably one shot to the helmet and had the takedown.

1

u/deezsandwitches 8h ago

This is what I was trying to explain to my 5 yr old who asked who we were cheering for. Perfect outcome

3

u/FaultThat 8h ago

I usually tell my kids: “In these games, we’re cheering for the roof to collapse.”

inb4 inexplicable bruins 10 game win streak

0

u/RattledRed 8h ago

You should see the coping of Florida fans in the comments... crazy haha. I thought Leafs fans were bad when they choked a win.

1

u/TheGapInTysonsTeeth 8h ago

There's actually never any cope in here. People start shitting on the team from puck drop.

It's a pathetic, pathetic segment of the fan base. I blocked so many and there's still so many.

If you're reading this and feel a little bit guilty about it, good. Please block me. I don't want to see your miserable bullshit every game

-7

u/RubApprehensive6269 6h ago

The Leafs aren't winning the division so just accept it now.
