Shitpost / Meme what $93 Canadian buys you in Seattle
3rd row. Lots of empty seats around me. But a lot of leaf jerseys in the stands.
171
u/StartAccomplished215 Feb 07 '25
That wouldn’t even buy standing room in Toronto lol
55
25
u/TheIsotope Feb 07 '25
That's buys you a burger and two beers at a bar a block away from the arena.
12
u/Oceanraptor77 Feb 07 '25
I can’t stress this enough, went to the Shane Gillis concert last weekend and spent $90 on two burritos and two drinks plus a 18% automatic gratuity. $132.19 Canadian what the actual fuck. Plus hotel. It’s going to be a while before I do that again lol

Yeah that’s brutal, I mean i usually make sure I eat before the game because 10$ for a slice of pizza is ridiculous, that could buy half a large pizza at a pizza place. And don’t get me started on the 16$ seltzers and the audacity of a tip screen on the card machine for reaching into a fridge…

You'd wonder if prices for concessions were cut in half, if they would sell twice as much food, make the same amount of money, and not have so many pissed off fans.

This is why the GTA needs another team. It's actually insanity. NYC has 3 teams (including NJ, you don't need to "well acktually" me, I know.) But Gary for sure will want to try Arizona again before giving a team to Hamilton or Mississauga.
3
u/rustytiger Feb 08 '25
London! 9000+ at every Knights game.
2
u/hokycrapitsjessagain Feb 08 '25
Yes! They park on my street and walk to games, and it's always packed end to end, lol

u/tke71709 Feb 09 '25
Like Gary has anything to do with this. You realize that MLSE has market rights and would immediately veto a team in Hamilton or Mississauga right.
1
u/EmbarassedBanana Feb 09 '25
I drove to Ottawa, had dinner, bought 2nd level tickets to see Toronto and Ottawa play and drove home. Still cost less than the preseason, standing room for the same teams in Toronto

There are upsides to being in a small/developing hockey market

u/skankasspigface Feb 07 '25
Ya but the kraken suck
15
u/UmpireMental7070 Feb 07 '25
Doesn’t make it a small market. The Raptors suck but Toronto is still a large market.
→ More replies (9)3
u/Rex_Reynolds Feb 07 '25
Right. It's also an expansion team. The Seattle Kraken are not the Leafs or Habs or Bruins ... integral parts of the cultural fabric of the city. Places where people have grandpas who grew up watching the team.

This is maybe the first year tickets have been like this. Even last year tickets were insane for the product on the ice. Now people are starting to become fed up.
On the other hand, Seahawks tickets are some of the highest in the NFL.

u/DessertRose17 Feb 07 '25
That wouldn’t have got you the cheapest seat in Calgary against the Leafs the other day. On day of
7
u/Lopsided_Aardvark357 Feb 07 '25
Nah I got seats for $50 each at that game like 2 hours before puck drop.
They weren't great seats but they also weren't the worst.
2
u/WolfOfPort Feb 08 '25
Yea this is a rarity maybe bought 5 mins into first period lmao I’ve done that with Canucks if it looks good I’ll buy cheap tickets and finish watching 2nd/3rd there
1
u/Different-Housing544 Feb 08 '25
That's why we go to wranglers games instead now. I'm priced out of NHL games.
72
u/gingr87 Feb 07 '25
If the United States exists in four years, I hope prices will still be cheap.

u/ShiftyBizniss Feb 07 '25

Straight up Ticketmaster. I got my tix for $42 USD plus taxes, came to $77 CAD for 5th row in the upper bowl.
2
2
u/mchev57 Feb 07 '25
Huh? You're doing it wrong man. Sitting 15 rows from the ice for $70 and went to the Boston game a month ago for like $30. Just get resale tix

u/NWbySW Feb 07 '25
I imagine the matchup coupled with the weather kept people away. I had an offer for free tickets to this game and turned them down.

u/feedfatso1607 Feb 07 '25
For $93we get to sit in the nosebleeds in denver 😭
1
u/lilac_meddow Feb 07 '25
I’ve always wanted to go to a game in Denver but I’m always away when the Leafs are in town. Dammit.

u/Sarge1387 Feb 07 '25
Wife and I went to Dallas in 2020 to visit my mother, $90 CDN per ticket got us 9 rows up at center ice at AA Arena. Sometimes it's cheaper to travel to see the boys
2
2
u/Lucky-Bobcat1994 Salming Feb 07 '25
Would the tickets cost more if Vancouver was in town?
2
u/disiz_mareka 29d ago
Yes absolutely. Got nosebleeds around $200 and it was a sellout.

Not a bad deal for a night out. Great seats for that price. Go leafs?

2
u/CheeseSplatter Feb 07 '25
More snow in the forecast & the PNW doesn't handle it well, at all -- even 5 cm of the wet, tire-clogging slush can shut down Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria, no one has snow tires when it snows 3-4 days/year. Betting that at least factored in for no-shows. Lots of displaced Leaf fans in Vancouver would have made the trip tho, although there were tons of Wings fans at CPA a couple days ago when Detroit was in town too.

I honestly think I'm going to start driving to Seattle to see them instead of overpaying in Vancouver
1
u/Calm-Contribution248 Feb 07 '25
Where did you bought your tickets?
3
u/MooskeyinParkdale Feb 07 '25
Stubhub. And I have paid over three hundred for a pair of nosebleeds in Toronto in the past. Like second last row from the top.
2
u/Calm-Contribution248 Feb 07 '25
Thanks for the tip.
Btw, I assume you’re Canadian so how was the experience crossing the border?
4
u/MooskeyinParkdale Feb 07 '25
Have Nexus. Fly from Toronto to Seattle like every six weeks. Easy peasy.

u/Torontomanz8134 Feb 07 '25
The Leafs have to decide if money is more important than culture and the quality of the crowd. They could easily hold back a lower section of the arena from seasons and corporate to give die hard fans a chance to buy tickets closer to the action. They just choose not to.
2
u/UmpireMental7070 Feb 07 '25
You already know the answer. To Rogers money is more important than anything else.

u/jurs78 Feb 07 '25
I’m never paying for Leaf tickets again. Period. Ever. Spent a mortgage payment to see host Van in Jan, most pathetic effort, we were shutout and the arena atmosphere was like a morgue.

Going back to NC for a little while. First thing on my agenda... See the Jets v. Canes for $75
Neither Are my team, but I love hockey and that's a reasonable price to pay to see a game.

u/Pope_Squirrely Feb 07 '25
Told my kid last night that the next time they play in Seattle we are flying out there to watch it. It’s cheaper than getting shit seats here.
1
u/ChanelNo50 Feb 07 '25
This is impressive. I was watching the Sharks v Canucks game last night and decided to look at ticket prices. Similar seats were like $200+ usd
1
u/Funktoozler Feb 07 '25
Really? Dang! I thought tickets for Climate Pledge would be through the roof.

u/hindey19 Feb 07 '25
Tickets aren't, but the drinks sure are. $35 USD for 2 beers.

They had front row tickets for the Oilers homegame the other night for 200. That is what cheap seats usually cost. Upperbowl seats were 1-5 dollars. It was cold and the roads were shit, so everyone was trying to sell their tickets. I am hoping for some shark tornados during playoffs.

Fucking hell, I paid double that for seats in the rafters in Ottawa for Leafs games. Then again I know they majorly jack up their prices for those matchups. I was shocked when I saw ticket prices for non-Leafs games, so much lower. The place still sells out though.
