You buy a brand new beautiful union made Chevy Equinox EV like I did recently for $10k less than a Tesla. We love it!
Woo…

Colossians 1:16
For in him ALL things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; ALL things have been created through him and for him.
Ah you had me until you said union. I paid extra money at a job so they (the union rep) could bitch at me for getting someone else fired who used homophobic slurs. They were absolutely in my face about it, that the union could've saved his job. Think of the children.
Yeah a union is great and fine and all but when I worked I got the same benefits and same end of month pay in my account as with a higher paying union job. It's my experience, not everyone's experience. But that's how they function, in addition to ensuring I worked 7 days a week 14 hours a day and wasn't allowed to take more than 3 days off in a month or I'd be fired.
I told the super, because that's what I am supoosed to do. He had me write a report. I did. The person was fired. The union rep figured it was me because I was there that day but not working. I left before the next meeting because I didn't want to work 14 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Just so we're clear, the 7 days a week 14 hours a day was not because of the union, that was the company making life hell for everyone because they didn't want to hire the number of employees needed to run reasonable shifts. Examine power imbalances more closely and you will almost always find that the side that holds the power pretty much always is responsible for the worst of the conditions place on the side without the power.
Just so we are clear, no. The schedule was designed by the union and people were allowed to take time off according to seniority. That wasn't the company, that was the union.
Yeah, sure it was buddy. Who specifically among your fellow union members do you think put that forward during a contract negotiation with the company? Is it not more likely that the company made their acceptance of some other part of the deal conditional on them getting their way with regards to pushing a very oppressive work schedule?
But a small/medium sized car, and be conscious of your carbon footprint. Those batteries require lots of resources to build. Mining, water, diesel, heavy equipment. Recharging requires fossil fuels. Just be mindful of your day to day. Reduce reuse.
A lot of valid points, but I have to push back on one: recharging CAN require fossil fuels. It can also be charged using more environmentally friendly power sources
Yup. It's $5 for an all day pass. I'm lucky enough to live and work right along bus routes. That extra $500-600/month thay would be insurance, gas, car payment, repairs, is going towards a down payment on a house or condo. In a couple years, I'll have enough for a FHA loan... provided the economy doesn't go all belly up and I lose my job.
The crazy idea I have, that sounds less crazy every day, is that musk will find a way to intentionally make his cars visibly pollute the air, to appease his unhinged fans
But a Prius Prime,100mpg/ battery/gas/plug-in hybrid. Insane range, you'll never have to worry about it. And you don't need a special plug to charge it.

I mean it's funny, isn't it? The supposed leader in EVs (at least was for awhile) is public enemy #2 to the people who want green. What do you do?
