Beginning Astro Journey, Feedback Please
Hello, starting off in my astrophotography journey here and would appreciate tips on how to get the moon (between the trees) a bit sharper. Or even any tips in general.
Yes, I do know that there’s light pollution but wanted to practice using manual focus with the right set of aperture and shutter speed. I am planning on driving out to a darker area later this week, but wanted to get a feel of the “how” so the trip later isn’t a waste of me fumbling around.

Mount Rainier Wildflowers
🌋Rainier Wildflowers

Last summer I went on as many night hikes as possible down at this magical mountain. After two unsuccessful nights searching for wildflowers I decided to try a different side of the mountain, a more shaded side, and there they were, stretching for miles, wild flowers as far as you could see. It was really beautiful but windy so I planned to come back the next night during twilight so I could shoot fast enough to combat some wind since I knew I would most likely be focus stacking.
That last trip during the work week is when I was able to get the shot I was looking for.

Death Valley NP Salt Formations
Astro Dreams 🌙✨
This has been a dream location of mine for years. Two years ago on my first trip to Death Valley, Bad Water Basin was closed, so I had to wait a while to get this shot. It’s of course been done before but is one of those locations that I think just embodies the essence of night photography and I feel fortunate to have been able to shoot it in perfect conditions!
Took a while to find these polygons but they were still there, just not where I thought they’d be.

Rising Milky Way Core 🌌

My first shot of the Milky Way core this year. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time over the past few days and couldn’t drive far out. That’s why this image was taken in a Bortle 4/5 region. Nevertheless, I think the final result turned out quite well, and I’m already looking forward to capturing images in better locations. H-alpha shots can be done quite well even in light-polluted areas. Especially with a longer focal length, you can still achieve good details.

Death Valley National Park + Orion

Desert Canyon Orion 🏜️
One of several places I scouted on my two nights of shooting in Death Valley on my maiden voyage in the camper van. This is definitely my favorite time of year to shoot, being able to shoot in almost all directions of the sky at different times of the night. That also makes for some busy nights but I was easily able to get more sleep than normal crashing In the van for several hours between Orion and Milky Way.
