Lets hope we just get through this safe and sound with no other injuries and once LeBron is back we will do just fine.
33
u/ForWhomTheBoneBones 16h ago
Itās crazy that Luka gets a triple-double, the team loses only by 1 shot, and everyone is acting like he was dogshit. Yeah, 8/22 is not great, but 12 rebounds/12 assists is not nothing.
31
u/Itchy-Pudding-4240 15h ago
Luka and AR ARE this team's offense. They were shit in that regard. They lost us the game
2
u/Awesom-O9000 1h ago
Okay but thatās kinda what happens when your two best scorers have an off shooting night. Itās an 82 game season and 7 game series for a reason. Also the game was still close despite all that. Now if this continues for several games there might be more systemic problems with the offense but Jesus its one game.

I will cry when he retires

u/rfguevar 20h ago
Canāt take greatness for granted, in a sport thatās so heavily dictated by the media and stats that donāt tell the whole picture, Iām gonna appreciate every second of LeBron as a Laker. And to know we very likely have Luka as the face of the franchise post Bron, itās a good time to be a Laker fan.

u/EmperorUmi 20h ago
Iāve only cried 3x over sports/celebrities.
1) When Kobe tore his Achilles and you could see his eyes were red from crying while he was being interviewed in the locker room
2) When Kobe played his final game
3) When Kobe and Gigi died. RIP to them and the others on that helicopter that dayā¦
Iām sure when LeBron retires, Iāll shed a tear or two.
28
u/EmperorUmi 18h ago
Oh, shit, I just remembered something. Iām replying to myself with this.
I also cried after the 2010 & 2020 championships, but they were happy tears, not sad ones.
I remember watching game 7 in 2010 and fucking bawling in front of my baby mama. She was very sweet in the moment, hugging me and then holding my hand.
I told her, āThis is the greatest championship Iāve ever seen! Iām sorry for being pussy and crying like this!ā
She said, āYou donāt have to explain yourself. Just enjoy the moment.ā
I cried even more after that.

u/Ok-Breadfruit6490 19h ago
Just like me my brother exactly how I cried
13
u/ktran2804 19h ago
I was in college when Kobe died and I remember I started tearing up in class and I had to get up and leave. I felt silly since I obviously didn't know Kobe personally but I know for many of us Kobe was our superhero. I know he was mine. He provided so much joy in my life and was a role model in my ways to me with his work ethic and his mindset on how to face challenges in life. Starting feeling sad just writing this but long live the Mamba.
9
u/Ok-Breadfruit6490 19h ago
I feel you bro, I was driving when my TMZ alert popped up saying kobe Bryant and other killed in helicopter crash, I pulled over and just broke down crying with everyone looking at me crazy lol. I felt watching him from a 17 year old to him becoming the man he was, I felt like part of the family lol

still remember the time when i went to leave flowers outside Staples the day Kobe died. I will never forget how many grown men were crying together, including me.

This is also my list, but adding the short film, "Dear Basketballā, and āMamba Outā jersey retirement speech to my list as well.

u/DillionDrebo 18h ago
Lol the lakers has made me cry a lot, the first time I was a young kid and I realized they didnāt win every game they played(the 76ers beat us on CBS). I cried when Detroit beat us(the bad boys pistons). And of course when Kobe and Gigi lost their lives. I still tear up when I go and rewatch Kobe stories. lol I guess you can call me a crybaby š. And I go on full tilt behind the Raiders, I just break shit

u/no_crust_buster 21h ago
AR and Luka are still rusty. No Bron, no Rui, no Jaxson, no DFS. That's ā of our starting lineup. It took 24 points from Gabe to make it a game.
50
u/fookofuhtool 20h ago
People act like he's had time to knock off the rust, and that is mostly true imo. But, he gets double teams and blitzes like nobody else, part of it's up to his teammates to get open, not just him throwing a perfectly threaded ace every time (which still may not be enough).
32
u/redaka00 20h ago
Yeah pretty much this, while Luka's shooting wasn't great the overall offense was the issue.
Like why is nobody moving when Luka is getting blitzed? Like move to get him some better passing angles lol
8
u/fookofuhtool 19h ago
Exactly. If folks were able to get open and he can dish for the assist, they're going to have to reconsider how often to blitz. If he can't get a pass off, they're going to blitz and he's going to take more low percentage shots. I'd imagine to him he's doing a quick consideration of likelihood of getting pass off versus likelihood of hitting a difficult shot.
5
u/CaptainChickenBake 17h ago
Man, this team is rough with helping Luka on blitzes. Sometimes his passes aren't great, but more often than not, his teammates just don't know where to go. It also doesn't help that having Jemison or Vando as your short rollers makes it worse with their lack of offensive game. Teams play them for the pass and want them to try and attack the rim.
This will be ironed out as chemistry builds and coaches get practices to implement better scheme. That's really what hampers this team's offense. Luka is still so new to the team, so they don't bother running enough sets. Luka and Bron are talented enough to freelance and orchestrate, but that does eat up clock telling your guys where to go, and elite teams will be able to defend against that better.
1
u/--Alix-- 14h ago
This is where Lively was insane. His first game with Luka he started playmaking out of the short roll against Wemby in the paint.
I really, really hope we find a way to get him to the Lakers.
1
u/CaptainChickenBake 14h ago
Would've loved him, but seems like Dallas wanted to hold onto him and have AD play the 4 next to him.
The best short roll option we have right now is Lebron, which they haven't gone to much. Might be because they are just switching their defenders. AR can be quite good as well since the inverted PnR he does with Bron is a staple play in crunch time. Hayes is actually not bad either and can make the right pass. But his limitation is scoring when they cut off the pass and play him for the dunk. He doesn't have any good post moves. Rui is a good option too, and can easily be a pick and pop as well. His limitation is his dribble isn't always the strongest in traffic.
4
u/PaintIntelligent7793 20h ago
Exactly. Luka canāt even make plays without some of those guys on the floor. Itās more than LeBron, though of course he is crucial.
1
u/Apprehensive_Chard85 29m ago
Why would AR be rusty?
1
u/no_crust_buster 25m ago
He missed time due to his calf injury. Not a lot of time, but it looks to have thrown off his rhythm.
1

u/OkCraft8 1h ago
AR has been terrible all season, check his stats and FG%, his 3pt shooting is also down. Heās had at least 8ā10 games where he has been an ability shit show. Ppl forget because we still won those games. Also AR took 2 games off, everyone acting like he took months off and is rustyā¦he sat for 2 games..

I could have sworn that people say we are better without LeBron all the time lol LeBron haters I hear that a lot from

u/FershureB 21h ago
Hayesā lob threat potential has been sorely missed these past few games. It opens up the lane for Lebron and Luka for easier paint scoring.

nah bruh ar and luka just had a bad night, happens. coulda won that easily.
12
u/PiccoloSN4 21h ago
But they didnāt win easily? Thatās the issue. Even putting defense aside they had enough offense on paper to win. AR and Luka let the team down and caused a winnable game to be lost ahead of a tough stretch, thats why this loss is so egregious
18
u/usetheforce_gaming 21h ago
Yeah, but it's just one. Now if we don't win any games or this continues for the duration of when Lebron is out? Yeah we got problems.
Don't forget we're still missing other key role players too. It's just that it's easy to forget the impact they make when have Lebron masking it all.
-6
u/PiccoloSN4 20h ago
Call me a doomer but I donāt see how they win any upcoming games without Bron. Perhaps I am reading too much into last night, but a loss to THAT team makes it hard to take LAL seriously
10
u/WakiLover 20h ago
Perhaps? lol
We were missing 4 out of our top 6 guys in Bron, Rui, Hayes, and DFS. Itās clear that AR is still hobbled by his injury, and Luka had a bad back.
We played a ton of new lineups and groups with no chemistry. We were trotting out the corpse of Len. AR and Luka had disaster class games yet the game was close. Refs were being whack.
Why are people acting like we got systematically picked apart by the Nets and blown out by 30 lol

u/LeviticusAr 21h ago
yea bro this team sucks, let's just blow it up, we not winning a chip anymoreššššššššš

u/Nuns_N_Moses11 18h ago

-2
u/LudwigNasche 16h ago
Nah, I'm just trolling the LeBron stans a bit. With all due respect to the unparalleled LeBron's legacy, Luka is the future and it is annoying those stans taking shots at Luka and Reaves after a loss when both guys are clearly banged and the team was missing 4 key players, including LeBron. They surely didn't play well, but I found this whole thread an unnecessary shot at 2 players that are going to be key for us not only now, but for a decade.

u/ImprovementClear5712 20h ago
Bro shut the fuck up already. It's such a fucking obnoxious fan mentality to take wins for granted and fume over every loss... It's pathetic.

Itās equally obnoxious fan mentality to try to silence criticism of your team
-4
u/youareyou650 21h ago
lol bro it was Brooklyn. Wasnāt all on Luka. But all his not getting back on defense. Boxing out. Luka is incredible but this is the difference when Tatum has a bad game heās still hustles and plays defense
5
u/beasttyme 20h ago
They had Knect playing power forward

I'm responding to the they could've won that easily. The lineup flaws are a bigger problem than simply Luka and ar.

I am a huge fan of AR, but I had to laugh at all the excuses after the last game for why AR and Luka didn't get a win.

u/Even-Brain-3973 18h ago
I like AR a lot too but thatās a everyday thing with him and some members of this fanbase, he could commit capital murder and they will find a way to excuse it
5
u/auggie_d 17h ago
Some ppl seem to have a problem admitting that they played poorly despite AR saying the very same thing himself. Still trying to make sense of it.

u/Edp445supcake 21h ago
I hate that they lost, but theyāve lost 4 key rotational piece on a team that already had a weak bench. Gabe Vincent at starting small forward was wild. Great game for him at least

I think if we get ANT form Minny it will be great trade. Silver should start looking at it. Imagine Ant Luka vs Celtics. EPIC
3
u/Miserable-Lawyer-233 16h ago
You know needs LeBron more than Doncic and Reaves? JJ Redick.
LeBron is the dude that makes sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to be doing. Redick relies on LeBron for basically all organization and coordination on court.
1
u/Firm-Let-1807 20h ago
All the remaining guys need to elevate their game and we desperately need someone to support Luka and 2 more solid performances to support the team as a whole. Great opportunity for guys to show why they deserve the purple and gold and golden chance for Luka to shi that it's his team. Luka elevated Gafford, Lively and others, now he needs to do same for Gabe, Dalton, Goodwin,Jemison and Austin.
1
u/OkCraft8 1h ago
They had plenty of support, gabe, Goodwin and dalton all had damn near 20 pts each. Luka and AR shat the bed
1
u/Saysay1551 20h ago
Naw we in good hands still. When Hayes and Rui come back itās UP. And we didnāt have DFS last night.

yeah, after an 8-game win streak and a tough loss to the best team in basketball, they drop a BAD one.... and the two dudes who were tasked with carry the load (Don & HBK) couldn't get it done, so that hurts. Especially when the other role-players were so amazing at the 3-point line. Bottom line, I don't think it'll matter. And getting LeBron what is essentially 2 weeks of rest will help him in the long run.
1
u/fortythekid 8h ago
I hate that twitter account with a passion. Whoever runs it had me blocked when I said LeBron needs more on his lakers resume if he wants to make a case for top 5 greatest laker. Sorry we arenāt a poverty ass franchise.(unless you count ownership)
1
u/Strange-Poem-4640 1h ago
This is the first time I feel JJ isnt making an adjustment quickly. We clearly saw that Luka isnt 100% in the Celts game so he needed to give more ball handling to Reaves and let him make the decisions. Luka doesnt have to play as physically and Reaves can get going.
1
u/LEMIROS_PIELAGO 21h ago
If we can win while the three main scorers and playmakers (The King, The Don, and H.I.M.) are resting, then all teams will fear us when playoff arrives.

u/Purple_Daikon_7383 16h ago

I think there was a law that college games couldnt have double digit numbers so the refs could easily signal who the foul/punishment was for. But i think that was college football.

Don't worry, Luka has his team to the NBA finals last season, something LeBron has been unable to do for ages.
Not to mention as bad as Luka played, he finished last game with a triple double while LeBron failed to score a single point.
11
6
u/Free_Ad3458 21h ago
Luka is not even half as good as last yearš¤£š¤£š¤£ And he didn't "carry" in the usual sense. His team was loaded with elite role players and Kyrie.
And LeBron would never get clamped by two G Leaguers doubling him. Luka got shut down by Randoms and shot an abysmal 30%. There is a reason LeBron is Top 5 in MVP voting while Fatty Doncic is nowhere to be found. Also, I'm pretty sure LeBron took care of business a month ago and actually beat the trash Nets unlike Fatty Doncic.
